Murder In Moscow: How Bushy Eye Brows Helped Identify Bryan Kohberger

from The Moscow Murders and More · host Bobby Capucci

Bryan Kohberger’s distinctive eyebrows had reportedly helped investigators identify him as a possible suspect in the killings of University of Idaho students Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin. A surviving roommate had told police that she saw a masked man dressed in black leaving the King Road residence after the murders and remembered that he had “bushy eyebrows.” After an investigator examined Kohberger’s driver’s-license photograph and noticed that his appearance matched that description, authorities began looking more closely at him and his white Hyundai Elantra, which was similar to a vehicle captured near the crime scene.Investigators had subsequently placed Kohberger under surveillance as he traveled with his father from Washington to Pennsylvania. DNA recovered from trash taken outside his family’s home was used to establish a familial connection to genetic material found on the button of a knife sheath left beside one of the victims. Cellphone records and surveillance footage were also cited as evidence connecting him to the investigation. Kohberger’s defense had challenged the strength and handling of the evidence, maintaining at the time that the state had not demonstrated a direct connection between him and the victims and questioning the methods investigators used to build the DNA case against him.to contact me:[email protected] a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.
