The assumption that Vickers fell from his balustrade in a drunken stupor does not explain the strips of missing hair on his wrists, the two horizontal cuts on his neck, or the swelling of his lips. Despite being made to hand the case over to the slick, suave Inspector Pocavi, Alvarez remains determined to solve the case in the hope that his imaginative approach will win the day. ©2007 Roderic Jeffries; (P)2007 Soundings Contact: [email protected]
