from You Can't Unhear · host Ericka Cuevas

Former Conservative minister and Reform UK spokesperson Ann Widdecombe was found dead at her home near Haytor, Devon, on July 9, 2026. Prosecutors allege that 28-year-old Joshua Kerry drove approximately 265 miles from Rotherham, entered her home while she was eating lunch, struck her repeatedly with a hammer, took her wallet, and left within roughly two minutes. Kerry has been charged with murder and remanded in custody. A provisional cause of death was recorded as blunt-force injury to the head.In this episode of You Can’t Unhear, we examine the known timeline, the role of Counter Terrorism Policing, the difference between an arrest and a formal charge, and the unanswered question of motive. Police say the attack was targeted and continue investigating whether it had a political or terrorism-related dimension, with more than 800 lines of inquiry under review. Kerry has not yet entered a plea, and the allegations have not been tested at trial.
