My Autism/ADHD Diagnosis|What I Wish I Knew Before My Diagnosis
from Becoming Her On Purpose · host Samantha Miller
(The video version of this podcast can be found here: https://youtu.be/W6c5Mn5_yIo) I wanted to share how I found out I was Autistic. Yes, I am a late-diagnosed AuDHDer! I was diagnosed 2 years ago, and that diagnosis was a gift and a curse all at the same time. My diagnosis was the catalyst for my journey to becoming the best version of me. Becoming Her. After my diagnosis, I began to make changes in my life. I began to advocate for myself, self-care became a must, and I learned how to set boundaries. My Autism and ADHD affect every aspect of my life from goal setting to my sleep patterns. I will reference it a lot on this journey. If you have any questions, comment below. In Greek, it loosely translates to “no words for emotion.” It is estimated that 1 in 10 people has alexithymia, but it is much more common in those with depression and in autistic people. Interoception: Interoception is a lesser-known sense that helps you understand and feel what's happening inside your body. Kids who struggle with the interoceptive sense may have trouble knowing when they feel hungry, full, hot, cold, or thirsty. Having trouble with this sense can also make self-regulation a challenge. Sensory Processing Disorder: Sensory processing disorder (SPD) is a condition that affects how your brain processes sensory information (stimuli). contact: [email protected] IG: i_am_samanthalynn TikTok: i_am_samanthalynn
