My Baby Is In The NICU - Now What?

from Mom & Me Podcast · host Marissa Aron

Unfortunately, sometimes, parents don't get any warning that their baby will need some time in the NICU.  Premature labor happens unexpectedly and, before you know it, nothing is going the way you planned! I reached out to Samantha Goldman, an occupational therapist who specializes in working with babies in the NICU, to help parents who find themselves in this situation and to help parents prepare for this possibility.  In this episode, Samantha discusses what parents may encounter if their baby is in the NICU and what resources and coping strategies may help. She also explains some important things parents can look out for, developmentally, while their baby is in the NICU and after they go home. Samantha helps to empower parents to become active members of their baby's medical team through asking questions as well as advocating and caring for their baby! Samantha is also the founder of The OT 4 Me, where she helps  parents who are worried about their kids eating habits or activity level solve picky eating and get their kids moving without fighting or tears!  Find her at: IG: @theot4me Email: [email protected] Website: https://www.theot4me.com/
