My beautiful boneca

Today I received a reminder of a Portuguese doll with multiple petticoats and a beautiful outer red dress, which had been given to me when I was 6 years old by an old Portuguese great aunt. Unfortunately it disintegrated in the 20 years I had packed it away when I was in Asia. I loved it because it was connected to my mother and connected to Portugal. "Connection" is the key word here. I still think about my doll I named Boneca, not realising it literally means doll in Portuguese! Love can take many forms but a deep connection is what humans long for. The highest love is agape love as represented by God's supreme love for us which has no demands or expectations. If we can recognise God's Love for us and can aspire to achieve that sort of love we will not be hurt and upset when our love is not reciprocated. Another wonderful aspect of agape love is that we will draw others to us who also extend agape love. Though we may not receive from those around us to whom we unconditionally give to, blessings will absolutely come our way. "Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you". (Luke 6:38).
