Armed with a guidebook that explained how to reach it, they drove several miles down a gravel road to a secluded trailhead before setting out on foot. What was supposed to be a peaceful day in the woods quickly turned into something neither of them could have anticipated. In fact, almost as soon as they arrived at the trailhead, they experienced something unsettling that would prove to be only the beginning.
