Welcome to the Tweet Trends podcast. Hey, Evac, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evac, hey girl, and you are tuned in to Tweet Trends. It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today.
Well hello everybody and welcome back. Today is February 27th and it's a very special day today. You may not have even known it, but what I need for you to do is to celebrate today as if it were your birthday. Why?
Because it's mine and I give you permission to celebrate my birthday as if it were your very own birthday. So today, February 27th is my birthday. Let's get started. So I woke up this morning with a song on my lips and in my heart.
And this particular song is I'm blessed by Charlie Wilson. If you haven't heard it, I'm going to give you an opportunity to check it out because honestly, like from head to toe, I just felt like a glow about me this morning when I woke up and it's like, oh, hey, it's my birthday. But that feeling of being blessed, knowing that I'm in good health and I'm living my best life. I've got my daughter and my husband and other family members and relatives and I just I just felt blessed and for that song to be on my mind and on my heart when I woke up this morning, that was just like confirmation like, thank you, Jesus.
Yes, I am blessed and highly favored. And this is going to be a great day. Just like every day is a blessing and it's going to be a great day. Rather, it seems like it or not.
It's going to be a great day. But then, you know, I got to thinking though that I'm feeling great today, but there are other people out there who may not be feeling great and it might even be their birthday. So I decided that rather than going off of what the national today calendar says of what today is, I think it's like chili day and something, a Pokemon day or something, I didn't want to go that route. I wanted to go along with my birthday and along with that to highlight some organizations that focus on birthdays to bring joy and happiness to families and people around the world.
So having said all of that, I'm going to start with the first organization. It is the Confetti Foundation. Now the Confetti Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization who provides birthday parties to children who are hospitalized, receiving regular treatment at a pediatric oncology clinic or that are in a hospice facility. The Foundation was started with the hope that families would be able to just kind of stop for a second.
The realities of their present situation just put it on hold and enjoy themselves as a family, even if for just 30 minutes to celebrate to celebrate a birthday, to celebrate life. And although the party isn't a cure, it's a definite welcome distraction and a good reminder that every child deserves to be celebrated. Cool thing about this particular organization is that your gifts are tax deductible to the limit that is allowed by the law, of course. And because you don't receive anything from your donation to them.
It all goes to the children. So this particular organization, I'm loving it. You can choose your amount of $40 provides one birthday party, 80 provides two birthday parties, $160 provides four birthday parties, $500 provides a one month supply of birthday parties for two pediatric oncology clinics. How cool is that?
Or you can put in a custom amount, whatever you decide to donate. You can donate it in honor of someone's memory or you can write a comment. You can have it set up to be a one time, monthly, quarterly, annually. You can do it big for somebody, for some child that's having medical issues.
You can be there and provide something for them. You don't have to see the smile on that child's face to know that something good is happening in somebody's life to say that you can do $40 quarterly or annually. You can do $40 each year in honor of your own birthday. And that's providing a birthday party for somebody else out there too.
How awesome is that? So check them out. The FETI Foundation, let me see what their Twitter handle is. On Twitter, they are at confetti toss.
That's at C-O-N-F-E-T-T-I-T-O-S-S. Check them out. Consider doing a donation, a regular one, not just a one time, even though a one time gift is great, but consider doing it annually. And just imagine how good that's going to make you feel.
The next organization I want to highlight is the birthday party project. And so their mission statement is this. It says, Our mission is to bring joy to children living in homeless and transitional living facilities. We believe that joy changes lives and a joyful community can change the world.
With the help of our birthday enthusiasts, that will be you. We host monthly birthday parties at homeless and transitional living facilities across the country. We celebrate all children ages one through 21 that have a birthday that month. And we invite all children and family members staying at the agency to join us for the party.
Our one hour celebration is a chance for kids to dream big. Our partners are so much more than a celebration. Excuse me, our parties are so much more than a celebration. They are a loud exclamation point that kids matter.
Now their partnered agencies can be found in Chicago, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, St. Louis, D.C., Kansas City, let's see Omaha, Minneapolis, Arlington, Fort Worth, Austin, Texas, and Jersey City. And I think I may have left out a couple. I don't know that I mentioned Houston just now.
But once again, another great opportunity to find a way to give a donation. So here are their donation levels. You can do a $30 gift and that would be for a birthday child. You can do a $50 birthday in a box.
$100 helps supply party favors. $500 goes towards gaming activities or a special experience for a party. And $1,200 provides a magical birthday party at one of their partner facilities. So once again, another awesome way that you can actually share your birthday, your birthday joy, happiness, or whatever.
Even if you're feeling crummy on your birthday, guess what? You can donate some funds to one of these organizations and actually feel better about yourself. You just think of it like, well, I may be having a crummy day, but I can at least provide a great day for somebody else or somebody that's homeless. I mean, because honestly, we tend to kind of miss that kind of stuff.
You don't think about it unless you're experiencing it or you know somebody who is. But how many times have you thought about the fact that a homeless child may not ever get to have a birthday party or a birthday present or a slice of birthday cake even? So come on guys, the birthday party project. Let me see what their tag is on Twitter.
It is at B Day Enthusiasts. That's at B-D-A-Y-E-N-T-H-U-S-I-A-S-T. Another one of these awesome organizations is Beverly's Birthdays. And they are committed to providing birthday cheer for children experiencing homelessness and families in need.
And from what I can tell so far is the Pittsburgh area. They have their partners include homeless shelters, transitional housing programs, domestic violence shelters, group homes, and residential treatment facilities. They are proud to be the provider for all 28 family support centers in Allegheny County. So here's another one.
You can check them out on Twitter at BevBirthdays. That's at B-E-V-B-I-R-T-H-D-A-Y-S. But you know, along with that, you can do your own thing. So you can find one of these organizations online, whether it be the Convetti Foundation or Beverly's Birthdays or you know, there's other ones out there as well.
There may even be one in your area. You may want to search and see if you can find one. But you can do something as simple as going on PayPal and setting up a pool. Did you know that you can do pools?
Yeah. It's a money pool where you create a function of whatever. I did one for my cousin's housewarming and reached out to family members to be like, hey, you know, she's got stuff. She doesn't need more stuff.
You know, she went from an apartment and bought a house. So let's support her not by giving her more stuff to put in the house, but let's give her some cash in her pocket so that she can do the things that she needs to do, whether it's get an alarm system or whatever. So I created this pool on PayPal and family members were able to contribute to it and post little messages and everything and she got to see it and she loved it. You can do the same thing.
I plan on doing it for my birthday. I'm going to create a pool and tell all my friends, hey, it's my birthday. I want to do this for this organization. Why not throw a few books in my pool and let's do something good.
Let's provide more than one. Let's provide a whole heap of parties for people all over the place. And on top of that, I'm actually looking into it to see if we have one in our area because if so, I think I would love to be a volunteer for something like that too. So I'm saying all of that of the things that I'm going to do because I'm hoping that I'm being a good role model for you.
And then you might say, you know what, that's not a bad idea. I think I might want to do that too. Or you may have a love of something else and you're like, you know, I might not do that, but I can do this over here because you know what, all of us can do something to make a world a better place. All right, guys.
That was today's episode of Tweet Trends. Do me a favor. Head on over to Twitter, check out at Bev's birthdays, check out confetti toss. And also don't forget the hit me up at Hey Event.
That's at heyev, e-v-e-t-t-e, or just look for the hashtag tweet trends. Thank you again for celebrating my birthday with me today. I really appreciate it. And you know what would be the icing on the cake is if you went to one of those websites or even one of a place in your area and gave a donation to support a young child in the hospital or having medical issues so that they can have a few minutes of fun by celebrating their birthday or even for a homeless child or a child whose family is going through something right now.
It'd be really super duper awesome. So consider doing that for me, okay? In the meanwhile, have a great day, have an awesome weekend, and I'll see you back here on Tuesday.
