My Celiac Story and Why It Might Matter to You
from Holly Logan Health Podcast · host Holly Logan
Today is an added solo episode for Holly to share her experience with Celiac disease – not to share just the woes of being gluten free but to dispel some of the myths, and discuss identifying and testing for this autoimmune disease that often gets overlooked. It is estimated that 80% of people that have Celiac disease don’t know they have it! Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition, not an allergy, to the gluten protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. It can contribute to issues not only with the gut, but growth, fertility, nutritional deficits, and more. Holly shares her personal story of how she was diagnosed, goes into serology and genetic testing, getting an endoscopy, and some of the guidelines for testing.
