If you are curious (and even if you aren't), here is the recipe and how I make my favorite chocolate cakeKen's Mom's Chocolate CakeDutch processed cocoa powder will make a richer and darker cake. Buttermilk can be substituted with regular milk or sour milk. The secret is, of course, Love. And some butter.In a saucepan, boil:2 sticks butter1 cup waterPour boiling ingredients over: 2 cups flour2 cups sugar1 tsp baking soda1/2 tsp salt4 TBSP cocoa powder1 tsp vanilla1/2 cup buttermilk2 eggsDirections:Mix ingredients together until smooth. Pour into a greased 9x13" baking pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until doneFrosting:Melt 1 stick butter with 5 TBSP buttermilkPour over 3 1/2 cups-4 cups powdered sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, and 4 TBSP cocoa powder.Frost cake while still warm.Please share this episode with someone who needs to hear it.
