My Fight of Abuse, Trauma, Addiction & Rehab in the Jewish World (with Baruch Bergman)

Trigger Warning: This discussion touches on sensitive topics related to trauma, abuse, & recovery. Baruch Bergman shares his raw story of surviving sexual abuse as a child in a yeshiva, how the community’s denial deepened his pain, and how that led to years of addiction and mental health struggles. He talks about losing trust in religion, battling shame, and trying to find his place after trauma. Through family support, therapy, and moments of real empathy, he slowly began to rebuild his life and faith. His story is about what silence does to survivors and how being heard can start real healing. ★ THIS EPISODE IS POWERED BY ★ ✦ Ohel: A Lifeline of Care & Healing for Our Community For over 50 years, Ohel has guided our community through life’s hardest moments with compassion, now leading in mental health, social services, & addiction recovery for the Orthodox community.
