Welcome to the tweet trends podcast. Hey, what's trending today? Hey, I mean, hey girl and you are tuned in to try It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today Today let's talk about breath work. Let's get started You know how you're introduced to something and it's absolutely amazing And you cannot wait to find people to tell about whatever this thing is because you just want to share it with everybody You want everybody to know so you go out and you do that you're telling everybody Oh my gosh I did this thing and it was amazing and they're looking at you with the side I like okay So just because you just figured this out don't sit and assume that the rest of us haven't already been there and done that because we Have so that's how I feel like I may be right now But I took a class on breath work last night and it was amazing I had such a good time and and I say a good time as if like we were laughing and having a great time like that We started off the introductions and everything was great I love it We were all able to participate in the conversation, but then when it came time to actually do the breath work It was like a vacation on a sunny Island and it was deserted it was just me and it was ocean breezes and sun shining and all this cool stuff in my head of course, but It was it was really good and my apologies if you've already been there and done that if you've already done some breath work I've done it before I actually signed it for a course once before but it was in a different time zone and I didn't realize that Where they were and the time that it was and where I was the two times just weren't compatible I just could not stop and do it then so I kind of listened in on it to see what they were saying and what they were doing But I didn't get to completely focus on what was happening So this was really good to be able to participate in this virtual breathwork class last night Now I also have an app a Wim Hof app and if you've never heard of him his name is Wim WIM W.

I. M half H.O.F and He's the guy that like will go to the the snowy regions and go get in the water or be walking around out there with no shoes on or No shirt on shorts and you know just weird type things where you're just like oh my gosh Okay, and he also has some other things like taking cold showers and you know controlling the breath It's all all about controlling the breath So I have an app where I've done some breathing techniques that he has through his app But this was the first time actually being instructed by a person live So it was absolutely amazing and I want to share that experience with you All right, so this class last night it was virtual so as we all entered the room there was nice light conversation going on Hey, thanks for joining us Where you tuning in from have you ever done breathwork before that sort of thing? Just everybody kind of getting to know each other and then once we got past that we were introduced to the facilitator You can find her on Instagram and YouTube definitely on Instagram at underscore Casey Michelle underscore and that's C A S E Y M I C H E L L E and She told us about her background how she got into it and she tells us a story about Unlike me where I'm running out like oh my gosh, you got to try this She actually saw her brother and was like something's different about you What have you been doing and breathwork was the answer that he gave her and so she was intrigued She started to practice and then you know the story goes on and they all lived happily ever after But I have to admit hearing her say the different things she noticed in her brother that had changed I was intrigued as well. So I went straight to doing some research Let's look up this breathwork stuff And I wasn't surprised when I saw yoga mentioned because I've taken yoga classes before where you know your breath is tied to the movement And it's all intentional you're breathing in on certain moves you're breathing out on others You're taking time to connect and you know relax and that sort of thing now granted yoga is its own thing all together but the idea of breathwork and how it's evolved to include so many new techniques and the focus is like Breathe breathing exercises Helps you as a means for therapy and self-healing so I'm all about that too, you know if we can do this the cheap way Then I don't need to take all your pills I don't need to be in your office all the time.

Let me just call myself and see if I can heal a little bit on the natural with some Breaths and then we can talk about your extra stuff that you got going on but anyway So but you know breathwork is more than an exercise of breathing correctly or breathing with intent The techniques are tools for major transformation and that was the type of stuff she was noticing in her brother It encompasses a broad range of therapeutic practices and exercises to relieve mental physical emotional Just just tension any kind of tension that you've got breathwork is used to let it all go And so with that in mind, I think just about all of us could use a little bit of breathwork in our lives It wouldn't seem right to talk about breathwork without talking about the mind body and the spirit So one of the key things that I picked up from the class last night was the fact that deep breathing can be very therapeutic for all three mind body and spirit and Honestly, I can say I'm a shallow breather. I Don't really Do much with deep breathing on a regular day-to-day basis It's just and I guess maybe a lot of us are like that where we don't take the time to take deep breaths And that's part of the reason why we have the tension that we do we have the stress We have the anxiety and all of those different things going on in our bodies because we don't use that natural means to release all of that stuff So when you go through and complete a full breath, it involves your whole body and so that in itself Kind of lets you know that breathing is very important and we shouldn't rely on our shallow breathing tendencies to just go throughout and take us throughout our lives We should actually find moments where we can sit and be intentional about breathing the physical benefits for deep breathing are often immediate and I think that that's key for me because if I'm having a tough day some rough moments or Whatever I want to be able to sit down breathe And immediately feel some of that weight being lifted off of my shoulders So by breathing deeply you can activate different systems in your body like the parasympathetic and different things like that heart rate Blood pressure all of that stuff a feeling of calm to come over your body Those are the types of things that you can benefit from by taking a moment to work on your breath and then as far as your mind goes The not only that physical stress, but the mental part that turbulence that's in your brain There were a number of times last night that she was saying, you know, okay now connect your brain to the breath But connect it as if it's like flowing through your body and cleaning the brain out Like that breath went up into your brain and pulled out all the fog pulled out all of those things that you're worrying about that you don't really need to worry about and that felt Good it felt good because by the end of the session I Realized that I wasn't doing what I normally do normally even in going to sleep at night I've got a gazillion thoughts just bouncing around in my head and sometimes it makes it difficult to fall asleep But by doing this process we got to the end and it was almost as if I needed to then regroup those thoughts to be like okay So now what where am I gonna start what am I gonna do? It wasn't there it was not in my head. It wasn't like I finished him's like okay now I gotta go it wasn't like that and so that felt very good to be able to calm my mind into focus and And not be focused on a thing.

It was just focusing on self and Then lastly the spiritual side of it. I think this is the part where people are kind of like oh that's a little too woo-woo for me Like mm-hmm. I hear you, but I don't hear you The fact that by sitting still and breathing focusing on your breath You can actually kind of transcend some of the stuff in the natural Now you may not you may not buy into that part is so that's fine stick with the mind and the body We can we can get to your spirit later on but even in that 30-minute session that we did last night There were moments when I felt like I had stepped away and actually kind of Became one with the universe so to speak that that I I was so focused on The breath and the calming feeling and all of that where it was just a really light feeling that I had Light as an airy, but then light as well, you know that That we the things around us they vibrate in lights and colors have different vibrations and there were a couple of times that she asked us when we breathe when we take our breath in to imagine a color coming in and So not only was I feeling light and airy, but I could feel like the light was shining from me My light was shining if that sounds crazy. I understand but that was how I felt that's the only way I can really describe the feeling so I say all of that to say that It can also be kind of like a spiritual awakening of sorts I really think if you haven't tried breathwork that you should at least consider giving it a chance if nothing else To just be able to get those deep breaths going and To feel a little bit better in the physical Thank you for joining me for today's episode and my fan girl over Casey Michelle and breathwork You can find her on Instagram at underscore Casey Michelle underscore and you can also find her on YouTube She's got a bunch of videos with lots of great information as a matter of fact She's got the very first video that's breathwork for beginners six minutes And she's just basically giving you two tips on what you can do just regular in a day To work on breathwork like it's not even that serious as to oh pick a style a type Just focus on learning how to breathe right and then we can move on to the fancy stuff basically You can find her on YouTube at Casey Michelle I'd say search for Casey Michelle breathwork.
