Welcome to My House My Foundation with your host, Dr. Maryam Mirad. Dr. Mirad will discuss the many issues that cause us to submit to a life that's less fulfilling and less healthy.
Maryam will investigate this national dilemma of poor health and lack of time for physical activity and offer simple yet concrete solutions to this growing problem. So now please welcome the host of My House My Foundation, Dr. Maryam Mirad. Welcome friends.
Welcome to BBM Global Network and TuneInRadio. I'm your very passionate host, Dr. Maryam Mirad. And I welcome you to my weekly radio series, My House My Foundation, which is made especially for you, you the average person who's very health conscious and is looking for alternative therapies anywhere we can see.
But they all seem to be a little complicated. And my show is custom made for you. It's made for the individual person. And in this show, we bring on each individual American, each person one person at a time and look into their lives how they can incorporate physical activity into their life.
Easy, simple steps, which don't require any equipment, don't require them to go to a gym, don't require them to sweat because these are for less active people. Those that really don't get up and about much and are really health concerned and cautious. And if you're up and about, you don't have any problems, life is beautiful, everything is going wonderfully. But one of these times that is unexpected that something happens and then all of a sudden our gym time and our walks in the park and our DVDs that we follow at home, sometimes they just fall out of sync, even though with somebody falls sick or somebody comes to visit us or as soon as our routines go out of our control, we just, the first thing that goes is our physical fitness or exercise.
And this is my mission, this is my aim, this is my purpose, is to include simple daily techniques that you can use without any pressure on you anytime. And that's the name of my show, my house, my foundation. So the basic minimum you need to focus on is your foundation. In other foundation of the house, it supports the walls and the roof, everything stands on that foundation.
So if you consider us to be like a house, you know, you leave all the science and the complicated research and analysis out of it and try to explain it to the average person that doesn't need brainstorm, you don't need a dictionary, you don't need facts or anything to prove just simple logical explanations. They're the best and they're the most uncomplicated and they're the ones that you will continue to use. So if you think about your foundation, if the minimum you can do is take care of your foundation, that takes care of your mobility. If you can stand up and walk, that's a, that's a, I tell you, that's a living in heaven from a lot of people because we are unable to stand up our knees or feet or back aches, we just can't stand up.
And because we can't stand up, we are unable to take a few steps and even go to the kitchen or go to the water cooler and get simply a glass of water. And, you know, so we tend to eat our meals, but the liquid is sort of left out for people that don't really make these trips to the water cooler or to the fridge. And so here today we will be looking into the life of Annalee. That's our guest today.
She's our guest case study. And Annalee has, has led an active life. I mean, she's only 67, but that lady is fit and she is to walk. And if you look at her, there's not the pound extra on her.
She looks perfect. She's got a nice face, nice hair. And you know what, recently she had a health scare and she went for a checkup and then she was sent to the cardiologist and she's now moved out of her house with a friend. So she's like, you know, I shouldn't be alone because she lives by herself.
So, so she's currently moved in with her best friend for a while. And she says that she's sort of scared and has a lot of anxiety and stress, which has all of a sudden built up. And she's developed these frown lines between her eyebrows and she has this worried expression. And she's constantly worried about what to do and who to ask.
And she's following the doctor's advice. And it's kind of serious when you get to the cardiologist. So life makes a big changes and it's a big change for her to move out of her house because she has a pet cat also. And her friend here is allergic to cats.
So she cannot bring her pet along. And then she has to have another neighbor look after her cat while she's moving into her friend. So she can have a little rest and she has somebody to talk to when she doesn't want to be alone. So this friend has a spare room.
So she has moved in there and her physical activity is like, like, like none. She wants to rest and that's what she's doing. She's just resting at a friend's place. And her friend is, she's a stay-at-home mom.
So she's empty-nester. That's why she had a free room in her house. And so she's a good cook-in. And she is a lot of traditional recipes using a lot of butter and, you know, whole ingredients, which she's trying to avoid.
So she's on this chicken soup diet and steamed vegetables and just very light foods. And her activities, like, absolutely nothing. She lies in bed all day and her friend makes her the food and brings it to her bed. And she's really nice friend.
So she doesn't really get up and about at all. And I was like, you know, whereas you think your resting, you know, rest is terrific. Your distressed, so your pet cat is with your neighbor and neighbor is taking care of your cat. So that's a load of the mind with your pet there.
And then your best friend is taking care of you. She has an empty room in her house. So what better you can move in and there's somebody to talk to. And your friend really, she cooks and she brings the soup and steamed vegetables and whatever to your bedside.
And, gosh, what a friend, gosh, a friend in need is a friend indeed. But she, as far as her activity is concerned, absolutely nothing. She's so stressed that she just doesn't think about. You know, only things she thinks about is her next doctor's trip and what the doctor says and taking the medicine on time.
And she's trying to sleep. But she actually, even though she's lying in bed most of the time, but she can't even close her eyes. The thought of closing the eyes is just so daunting that she was telling me that if I close my eyes, I think that I won't ever wake up again. And I was like, you know, lots of people live with health and heart conditions.
So it was my mother. She was also living with it. But you have to incorporate some daily activity, you know, a little bit of physical exercise, a physical movement that has to be soft and subtle. And the minimum movement that you want to do is you want to think of your future foundation.
So when you get back to good health, you're able to stand up and take care of your daily activities. Because the truth being the more you lie in bed or the more you sit, the more time you spend off from your feet, the foot loses its strength. After all, it's bone and muscle, you know, the feet are bone and muscle. And are the whole body stands on just those two feet.
If you think about it, it's so disproportionate. You know, we're like skyscrapers and some minimum health while you're under weller having a health crisis or your hospitalizer, a sick or for whatever reason, you're away from your daily fitness, your gym, your walks, your jogging, your swimming, your bicycling, your hiking. And you're falling into one of these episodes where you need to see the doctor and he advises you to rest. And before you get back to your normal activity.
So there's a little time span there. And the first thing that goes out is a gym. So she's just at home and she's resting. And that's what she wants to do.
She just wants to take it easy and de-stress because all of a sudden it's like a shocker. She's not overweight. She doesn't smoke. She doesn't drink.
She thought she was living a healthy lifestyle that, you know, the stresses of life build up. And then there's so many factors affecting our health. So it's hard to see which one is causing us the most stressful and the most damage to our health. But rest assured, the road to recovery needs some physical activity and the minimum is our body's foundation.
So if you're lying in bed and you're not doing anything, the minimum you need to move is at least you got to move your feet. So you got to change the position of the body. I was explaining to Annalie that even though you're lying in bed most of the time, you need to change the position of your feet. If nothing else your feet, you need to move the feet because the foot is farthest from the heart.
And to get the circulation going you got to think about your foundation. So we have to take a short break and we will continue back with our discussion on My House, My Foundation, on the BBM Global Network and Tune in Radio. And I'm your host Dr. Miriam Meran.
So we'll be right back after this short break. The earliest human societies worshipped a female goddess. Little is known about this time because we did not always have a written recorded history. It was around 3100 BC when the Sumerians invented the first written language and everything that preceded this time is prehistory.
The prehistorical record includes all of women's unwritten history from 30,000 BC to the time that men began achieving political power around 3000 BC. Male feminist artist Kimberly Berg maintains a strong position in educating and inspiring both men and women through his devotional art to the goddess in all women. Studying their history is paramount to understanding who women were and who they would become later living in a patriarchal society. To learn more about this important time in our history, go to www.isisrising.net There are artists and then there's Alice Asmar.
This award-winning artist has spent her entire life devoted to artistic pursuits and has had a lifelong fascination with American Indians of the southwestern United States. Her book, Dance to the Great Spirit, showcases her drawings and paintings inspired by sacred rituals of the Pueblo Indians and four of her lithographs are in permanent collection at the National Museum of American History in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. She is one of four artists in the United States to win a woolly fellowship for study in Paris at Leicolde Bozarts and has been featured in numerous publications. She's exhibited at the world's most prestigious museums and galleries and recently won a 20-year service award from the Burbank City Council and the inaugural art competition of the foundation of the United States in Paris.

Today we're looking into the life of a 67-year-old woman. She lives at home alone annually and she's just had a heart scare. She went to the cardiologist so she has moved in with her best friend. So to de-stress a little bit and somebody to take care of her and talk to her like a caregiver, best friend, and who's not going to charge her for this.
That's really because she's not working so there's a loss of income there and then the bills are adding up and then her insurance and the medicine. So she's calculating everything. But before the break we were talking about how the foot is related to circulation and we stand on the feet. So the foot takes the burden of the whole body weight on top and the blood vessels they sort of go down in size.
So near the heart it's like the kitchen sink is really big and then they graduate down in size until they get to the feet and the toes are the smallest in the toes. So to keep circulation moving if nothing else you sort of wiggle the toes, you know just move your toes every once in a while and a good count is by the hour sort of just some wiggle the toes hourly. And that sort of keeps blood flowing in the toes which is the part of the body that's farthest from the heart. And with Annalise she's very worried about her toes and I was telling her that you got to keep blood flowing.
It's the house pipes, the body pipes, they follow the same principle. So you can't have a clogged kitchen and you're trying to cook some food and you can't take a shower where the bathroom is clogged. So the body is the same way. You can't have the blood vessels clogged with poor circulation and you got to keep blood flowing.
You got to keep water flowing and the house pipes you got to keep blood flowing into blood vessels and flowing blood keeps flowing in and just like your house pipes that went water flowing. So the house pipes that went water flows it flows and when it doesn't flow all the sort of settles down into the sink and that's where everything gets clogged. So it is the same principle. You got to keep moving a little bit and I was explaining the significance of food exercises.
So you need to focus on the toes so you move the toes a little bit and it doesn't have to be very stressful and you don't have to really count. But every hour or every half an hour just move a little bit so there's movement in the body, the minimum even in the toes. And then the next you come to the heel so you move the position of the heel. You know you move the foot.
You can turn to your side if you want to move the foot but move the feet and then you come up to the knee. So from the foot to the lower limb just move the position because gravity sort of pulls everything down and you don't want to be lying in the same position. You need to keep changing your position and whatever part of the body is next to the bed sheet, the dependent part. That sort of gets sore and now develops a red patch.
The movement is not there. So you need to flip over or move your leg position in order to get your circulation flowing a little bit. And those are a few simple principles about circulation. So you think about your house pipes, the body pipes.
They follow the same principle and it's easier to explain to ladies about the kitchen sink. So the U of the body is in the foot just like the U of the kitchen sink is right under the kitchen sink and everything tends to clog in the U there. So that U under the kitchen sink is where everything clogs and there's where the heavy particles and all the trash and the food. They tend to settle down and they block blood flow.
It's in the U under the pipes under the sink. So just like that, you under the sink or bodies, we have a blood vessels that go down to the feet that make a U turn and then they go back up to the heart. So that U under the sink is the same of the U of the body and that's formed in the foot. And so gravity pulls everything down and you need to do a little bit of foot exercises.
And the simplest of the exercises is a simple movement, which you don't have to count. It doesn't have to be repetitive, but just sort of be conscious that you need to keep moving. You don't have to have like a count like every five minutes or fifteen minutes or half an hour. But you just keep moving a little bit slowly.
You move your toes, you move the ankle, you move the knee joint. So just change the position of the foot and the knee. If nothing else, you're going to move just the whole foot and the whole lower leg together and just straighten the leg. Or change it a little bit or put the pillow on one side of the leg or put the pillow on the other side and move the leg.
So it just changed the position of the leg, which is really not exercise, but it's a physical movement. So you aim to change the position of the leg and it avoids the stiffness in the joints. The joints tend to stiff up if you don't move. And just remember you got both legs to move.
Sometimes it's easier to move your right leg if you're right-handed so you focus on more the right leg and not the left leg. And when you're lying in bed and you're type of unwell and you don't really look at your feet or your legs. So it's easier to forget them, but rest assured they're there and they require a little movement there. So it's time for our next break here and you're listening to My House My Foundation on the BBM Global Network and Shooting Radio.

Welcome back to My House My Foundation on the BPM Global Network and Tune in Radio. I'm your host, Dr. Miriam Rudd. Today in our show, My House My Foundation, we're looking at this lady's foundation, Annaly.
She's 67 and she just had a health scare and she's fortunate to have a very good friend, a really good friend who's taken her in and she's in her house. She's empty nesters. She's making good use of the kids that are just left. She's really concerned about not having to do any sort of physical activity, not stand the word, just rest in bed.
She doesn't understand the need for movement. I was explaining to her if you don't do anything, you've got to change the position of your feet and legs. She's just not existing in her body. Everything is happening in her mind and eyes are just staring up at the roof.
You can tell that she's lost in deep thought. I was telling her friend that you need to help her a little bit because she has a cold feet. She's got really cold feet and that's coldness. It's not a sign of health support circulation.
Something simple you can do there is take a towel, any size, preferably a bath towel, dry towel. You just dry microwave it. You just put it in the microwave for a minute and it warms up a little bit. You just put it on her feet and her lower legs.
They warm up. It's an easy way to provide circulation, especially when she's waiting for the 46 weeks that the doctor has told her that you need to rest for a few days. Then the physical therapist will start you on your physical therapy. She has to follow the doctor's orders very carefully.
In the meantime, you can't be an absolutely zero on physical movement. If you don't move, then there's somebody that can at least put a warm towel over you. Her friend is not into putting hot water into one of those hot things inside and doing it again. She's scared of it, but this towel is a simple idea and it has a simple way to revive anything because she doesn't have any of those hot towels.
All of these little first aid gadgets and sickness kits because they hurt her annually and her friend. They're both in good health. It's not a house where somebody has been sick and you have all these extra gadgets and these tools lying around that you can use. She doesn't have a hot water bottle.
You don't need to go out and buy one. You just use a dry bath towel. Just use a nice towel and heat it up for one or two minutes. It's not too hot, so it just warms up a little bit.
Her feet are very cold. She signifies poor circulation. It's not a sign of good health. You want to keep the blood flowing.
Just warm her feet up and put it over the foot and the lower legs. It does a nice job and it feels good. The warmth has actually put her to sleep. Her handily was telling me that when her friend puts this warm towel on her feet, it feels so good.
It feels like somebody's massaging her feet. Even though it's just a warm bath towel wrapped around her feet. She's saying it just feels so good. It's like somebody's hugging her feet.
This is an easy method that you can use anytime. Somebody's not well. You don't have a hot water bottle with you. It's a little bit messy, boiling the water and putting it in.
This is a little bit easier to do. Just take a bath towel, a dry towel and put it in the microwave two or three minutes. Two minutes to have her microwave is calibrated. A little bit of warmth is required, not too hot.
You just want to place it over her feet. Just wrap her feet inside it. She likes that. It's nice and warm.
And put her to sleep. That's the way of relaxing. It's a simple way of getting her circulation going. I was telling her friend that while you're sitting there, you wrap the towel around your feet.
Move her foot a little bit. Stretch the leg. Move the foot up and stretch the back of the leg. Just hold it for a second.
Then lightly press the toes down and stretch the front of the leg. You get circulation going because she's absolutely not willing to move. She's not willing to even stand up. She's like, no one needs to rest.
I don't want to stress my heart. Everything needs to be just as the doctor says. I said, okay, no problem. You just focus on a little assistance from your friend.
Just keep your feet warm. I was telling her friend that whenever you bring food or whenever you come and you sit next to Anilie here, I talk to her and comfort her. Just touch her feet and see if they're cold. Because even though she has a blanket on, it's a light blanket, her feet are still cold inside the blanket.
That's very common. Sometimes it happens. We believe in where socks and their feet are cold inside the socks. She's going to...
She does this very often. It puts Anilie to sleep, which is really soothing. She has so much stress and anxiety in a particular situation right now. We just had a health scare.
She needs to rest and take it easy. We tend to do ourselves in daily life. When we have these health scares, we put everything into perspective and try to rearrange her life. This is what she has done.
She puts her pet cat with a neighbor and she has moved in with the best friend who's taking care of her. She makes her good fresh soup and she gets her steam vegetables. She's taking care of her. She sits next to her.
She talks to her and comfort her. It's good to have a friend like that, the friend in need. This friend is doing the best she can. Not only that, she even talks her in and she'll make her warm.
She puts a cap over her head because you need to keep warm. Just like a baby, we put a cap on top of the baby and keep the warm. You got to keep yourself warm. That's one of the basics of good health.
You got to have blood flowing. Whenever you're cold, blood doesn't really flow. It's warm that makes the blood flow. You got to keep your feet warm.
Anybody that's listening with cold feet wears socks. If those socks don't warm your feet up, you can always do this. You can use a bath towel, microwave it and wrap it around your feet if you don't want to use any gadgets or any of these warm foot massage where you can put water in. If you have these fancy gadgets, that's fine.
But if you don't dry a hot towel, it works just as well. So you're listening to My House, My Foundation, on the BBM Global Network and Tune in Radio. I'm your host, Dr. Maryam Rund.
We have to take a short break here and we'll be right back. So you stay tuned. Animal lover, author, artist and public speaker. Patricia Gellilife is a Renaissance woman in her own right.

Welcome back to my house, My Foundation, on the BBM Global Network and TuneIt Radio. And I'm your very passionate host, Dr. Mary Amurad, who's out to make a difference to every person. And I would like everybody to incorporate a physical activity into their daily life.
And that would really improve your health and wellness so drastically. And we are looking today in this show to the Life of Annalie. She's an active young woman. She's 67.
She used to physically fit. That's what she thought. Not a pound overweight, looks good, has a health routine, eats well, does everything according to the book. And sometimes she's had this health scare and a trip to the cardiologist has sent it to her friend's place.
And so she's with a friend right now. And we're talking about how she can maintain a circulation when she's not willing to move a muscle. And she even forgets to straighten the leg. And she says, you can't remember.
So she's blessed with a good friend. And I was telling her friend that you need to apply some lotion or cream or oil or coconut oil or almond oil or dirt into all these oils. So she's using a lot of peanut oil, sesame seed oil, any oil will do. Just a little bit and sort of rub her feet because with poor circulation, the foot tends to have dry skin.
And this little gently rubbing the lotion or the oils on is sort of improved circulation. And it helps to texture the skin and also feels terrific. Somebody giving you a little foot massage there. So this is what her friend is doing for her.
She's rubbing on lotion. She's got this oil-free lotion. And she's got this coconut oil. So sometimes she uses this oil-free lotion.
And she rubs her foot with it and her lower leg just a little bit. And I was like telling her, be sure to put the lotion in between the toes because they dry out very fast there also. And other times when she applies coconut oil, I was telling her that after the coconut oil, you must put some socks on because it's a little bit slippery. And if she wants to stand up, so she doesn't slip even though she's not standing up but still you need to take the precaution there if she does.
So a pair of cotton socks, if you apply some oily lotion or if the lotion, you apply a little bit more lotion that hasn't dried and gone into the skin as yet. Or if you apply some oil or some creamer or whatever to your feet, you need to put some cotton socks on. So if she places her foot on the floor and wants to stand or if she wants to walk, she wants to slip. And the cotton sort of keeps all the oil and lotion away from the bed because she's staying with her friend.
And so her friend is generous enough to blend her the bed and put this oil on her. And you don't want to spoil her blanket centigrade. So this oil is very essential to apply. But afterwards be sure to put some cotton socks on.
And especially cotton socks because they tend to absorb whatever excess there is and they're non-slip. So if you stand up, they won't make you slip either. And of course cotton socks are washable and you wash them between every use. And reuse them.
And if you're not well and you're not up and about, it's a really good idea to put socks on. Because socks keeps your blood flowing, it maintains your temperature and you don't want to have cold feet. And our friend here today are guests. She is just wanting to rest in bed and she doesn't want to do anything.
And she's very stressed out, so much anxiety, so much stress. And these doctors visit with these cardiologists, especially, they're quite rainy. And just the word cardiologists put serious thoughts into your mind about the rest of your life. And now she's thinking that she has to have a will and she has to go see the lawyer and so many stressful thoughts.
So her friend is very comforting and is trying to stress her down. And she's doing a wonderful job at taking care of her. So she's massaging a little bit gently to her feet every day or twice a day really. Actually every time she comes to give her some food, she's like touches her hands to the foot and even over the socks, she's bending the toes, bending the ankle, changing the direction of the foot or placing the leg a little bit different, pressing the toes up, stretching the back of the calves, bending the toes down, stretching the front of the legs, lightly just massaging the back of the legs, the calves and just rubbing her hands gently on the knees and on the feet.
And just to improve her circulation and her friend is very lucky to have somebody like this take care of her. So Annalise, blessed. I was telling her you're blessed. You need to de-stress faster because you have such a good friend to take care of you.
She's making you fresh food and she's doing your exercise for you. I mean, she's moving her feet, she's changing the position, she's bending the toes up and down and you got to get the circulation going because you can't expect good circulation while you're lying still in bed and our house pipes, our body pipes, the work of the same principle. So whoever has a dry skin, so this is another good tip for all those people that are listening. So if you want to know whether your foot circulation is okay or is it not, and if you have dry skin, so it's probably a little bit poor circulation because if the circulation was good, your skin would be a little bit better nourished.
So if you have a little bit of dry skin, you can also apply some lotion, non-stick, non-greasy, non-oily lotion. And if you prefer to use a little bit of oil, you can use any oil that's in your kitchen really, olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, that's me, so you paint it, any oil that you have will do, and you just apply a little bit, and to apply a bit of oil in between the toes, use a Q-tip. So just dot the oil on the tip of the Q-tip and apply it in between the toes and don't overdo it because it gets greasy very fast, so just a dot on the Q-tip is fine. And just one dot will do one foot fine for you and just sort of put the Q-tip in between the toes.
So with dry skin, you don't want to really put your fingers in the toes because your skin is already dry and it has a possibility to crack open. So you don't want it to crack and you don't want the dry skin to crack, you don't want anything painful. So the best thing is to use your fingers lightly to put the oil or the lotion on top of the foot and on the sides and on top of the toes. And for in between the toes, use a Q-tip.
So that one Q-tip, one dot, just a small dot of oil on the Q-tip, it was sufficient for one foot and you can apply a dot on the Q-tip for the second foot. We have to take a short break here now, so you're listening to My House, My Foundation on the BPM Global Network and Tune in Radio. And I'm your host, Dr. Mary-Murad, and we'll be right back and continue with our discussion.

I am the founder of the Casabluis I-Sevide Foundation, and author of a series of books entitled, I-Sevide Bemerda Untold, which tells a story of my sister and I who were abandoned and left in a caroban woman who beat us repeatedly.
Unfortunately, it resulted in the death of my sister Casabluis, which is revealed in a page-to-page chilling story. At the spending time in the foster care system, I've documented my suffering and my loss, and ultimately my survival. I'm blessed to work daily in my community and surrounding areas to give back by helping others and feeding the homeless. I want to spread awareness of the dangers of abuse.

I'm your host, Dr. Mary Marad, and today we're looking into the life of Annalie. She's a woman who has just been to the cardiologist with some changes in her test results, and she's very, very worried. She's so, so worried that the anxiety and the stress has overtaken her life, and she's fortunate to have such a good friend who has accommodated her and taken care of her.
So I was telling Annalie, you need to find your delete button. Delete the worries that you have, because the future is like, it's cause and consequences. Even if you take good care of yourself like she does, she's in a perfect weight, and she eats well. She exercises regularly, but her stress level is so, so high, because she runs her own business.
She's got a little temper also, so she's got like hotheaded, her friend calls her, my hotheaded friend, and she's hotheaded. Oh, well, okay, that explains a lot where the stress and tension comes from. So I was telling her that this time she needs to rest, and just forget about everything else, and just focus on herself, and with every causing or all this pain and anxiety and stress. And she needs to figure out later on how she will deal with her business stresses, but you need to find out where your stressors are, and I was telling her why you're lying here, and your friend is taking good care of you.
And you can talk to your friend and sort of sort out your stresses. You know what's bothering you? You can talk it out to her, and your friend would give you good advice, and you have a friend here, so well, make good use of her. I'll bounce some ideas of what's causing your stress off of her, and she can guide you, because she's a mother of two, and she seems like a wonderful person, a neat clean home, and she's accommodating her friend who's an ally who's not well, and she's providing her with her food and soup, and she's even giving her a little foot massage there.
She's a wonderful friend, and I was like, oh, everybody has a friend like this, everybody falls sick every once in a while. And so I was telling her friend that whoever comes in, they bring a little get-well present, and everybody has these nice ideas about, roll some marbles into the foot, put the towel and stand on it, and you got to get up on your feet. And Annalise, just not ready to, and she pushes back every time you mention stand up on your feet, and for her, bed rest, she just wants to rest, and her friend is taking good care of her, and so she's got a friend doing her foot exercises and a foot massage. And she's applying this big bath towel warmed up in the microwave, so wrap it around her feet against circulation going.
So she's got a circulation going in her foot, which is very, very essential in a foot care when you're not up and about and unwell in bed, very essential. So I was explaining to her that do not use these marbles into the foot, because as soon as you stand up, your foot will not be ready to take your body weight, because you'll be lying in bed for a couple of days, and the foot is not really that strong, because you haven't really existed. Your friend is just doing a little massage and to keep the blood flow and putting some lotion on you, and stimulating circulation, but you lose muscle tone there, because you're not really up and about using your feet. So when you get up, the foot is type of sensitive, and it doesn't really take the body weight, and when you're feet are cold, there's poor circulation, so you don't really have the feeling of what your foot when it touches the ground.
You're not really sure that your foot is actually touching the ground, because she has cold feet, so she can't really feel so well sometimes. She says I can't really tell whether my socks are on or whether my socks are not on, because my feet are always cold. So she has to actually look at her feet to see whether the socks are on or not, and then top of her feet, she's got her socks, and then top of that, she's got the blanket on. So I was telling her, you really, really have cold feet, and I need to get up a little bit, and if nothing else, put your foot down and stand on your feet.
So you don't lose that balance, you don't lose that coordination of your footwork, you can't just be lying in bed and expecting your friend to take care of you. That's old school. Now even after surgery, the day of surgery, they get you up on your feet, and you need to stand and prevent clots performing. So I was telling her, there's been a couple of days now, and so you have to talk to Anali, because she's a very strong-minded woman, and she doesn't really accept these new ideas.
She's like, when you're unwell, you're supposed to lie in bed a few days, and have chicken soup and vegetables, and don't get up and about, and conserve your strength. And I said, well, that's all very good, but you need to maintain your foot strength, and if nothing else, you don't have to walk far. You have to put your feet down, put your feet down from the bed, and just stand on both your feet so your foot maintains. It's healthy, and it got to maintain the muscles of the feet.
So when you get back, your recovery will be faster. Even though she was very good, she was active, and she was into healthy fitness. But when you have a bout of serious illness, and you're not on your feet or your lying bed for a while, the physical changes, they take place quite quickly in your body, and you lose muscle tone and muscle strength and balance. So you have to go into a little bit of rehab.
You've got to work yourself back to good health, and she's fortunate to have a good friend here. So she's going to start putting her friend's foot down and help Anna Lee up. Just stand up and just stand for 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, and then sit back down again. Then you can stand up again and stand for 5, 10, 15 seconds, just a 2, 3 breaths.
And then you can sit down again. Because when you haven't been standing, the body sort of collapses on itself. It's a very strange feeling, but you have to be really unwell to know what that experience is like. And that's what we're trying to avoid.
This complete collapse of the body, and you need to keep the blood flowing. That's circulation. At the same time, you need to have your joints and muscles that are toned, maintained. And if you don't use the muscles, then the bones say sort of the calcium flows out of it so the bones weaken.
So we have to take a short break here, and you're listening to My House, My Foundation on the BBN Global Network and Tune in Radio. And I'm your host, Dr. Maryam Maran, and we'll be right back after the short break, so stay tuned. My Dreams, My Challenges, and Joys is an inspiring book by author Linda Janazzo.

Welcome back to BPM Global Network and Tune in Radios, My House, My Foundation. I'm your host, Dr. Mary Merud. We're talking to our friend, Ann Lee.
She just had a health scare. I want to emphasize that no matter how well you are or how unwell you are, you need to have a little bit of physical activity into your day. The body is not allowed. Our body needs some movement.
When we move the outside, we move the inside. When you move the blood flows inside, the blood flows the organs, they're all working. What's your health level or fitness level? All your organs are working and you need to have the circulation to clean those organs.
You need to get nutrition moving inside your body. The truth is you can have somebody give you the best nutrition, but if it just goes and sits in your stomach, it doesn't do much good. You have to have a little movement to get the circulation going and blood flow is what moves everything on the inside. You need to get that nutrition moving from the stomach to all parts of the body and little movement.
Today we're looking into the life of Ann Lee. She's not well these days and she's having bed rest. She's lying in bed most of the day, actually all of the day. A good friend is taking care of her.
She's providing her with soups, with vegetables, giving her a little foot massage, rubbing oil and lotion on her feet. She's taking care of her friend and she's talking to her. She's providing her with all the comforts that you can ask for free. I was a good friend who was coming in need, really a time of need.
I was explaining to Ann Lee that no matter what condition you are in, you need to do a little physical movement. Us women tend to overdo, we're overachievers in whatever we do. We need to come into the median path. Don't underdo and don't overachieve.
You come into the median path and our exercise is concerned daily, mobility is concerned. We don't have to go to the extremes of fitness. We need to maintain some form of exercise and the best exercise is the one that we can maintain throughout life. Each day of the life you do some sort of physical activity.
That's the best. In our guest today, she's absolutely not up and about. The minimum that you need to take care of when you're not well is your body's foundation. The house stands in the foundation, the body also stands in the foundation.
Your rotary recovery is shorter when your foundation is strong. In Texas, we had Harvey go through and those houses with a stronger foundation were less affected. When you have illness, you are up off your feet and lying in bed and it's your foundation. Your foundation has to be strong.
The thing is you need to keep blood flowing. The foot is very essential. If you don't get much done because you're unwell or you're by yourself, you need to think about the minimum that I can do that will provide me with maximum benefits. That is foot care.
It's minimum. The foot is farthest from your heart. That is why people have cold feet. If you have cold feet, you signify poor circulation.
You need to have some sort of exercise. You need to stand up and do a little walking or if you're going to lie in bed like Annerley and you have a good friend. She's going to rub some oil or lotion on your foot and put some cotton socks on you or warm a blanket or towel or a small one in the microwave, a small cotton towel or a bath towel and wrap it around your feet to promote circulation, guttastic circulation going.
