My Music Episode 255 - Georgia Meek

from My Music · host Graham Coath

Since launching a solo career in early 2017, following a string of successes in various bands, the London based alternative-pop artist has cultivated a growing and dedicated following of fans, by preaching values in her music around feminism and sexual fluidity, reflected by experimental production and sombre melodies. Georgia prides herself in being an accomplished producer and prolific writer, insisting that the industry moves towards a more gender equal landscape, encouraging artists to work with female producers. Since founding FMP World (Female Music Producers World) in early 2020, she has gathered a community of more than 3,000 women in music production, creating a platform for their voices and talent to be heard. Throughout the release of her debut EP release, 'Womanhood', and subsequent single releases, Georgia has received acclaim from Radio 1’s Future Pop Anthems, Capital, Radio 1Xtra, BBC Introducing, 6Music, Spotify’s NMF (UK plus 10 other countries!) and influential publications including Stylist, Wonderland, Clash, Atwood Magazine, plus more.  2023 will see some exciting collabs for Georgia, plus several high profile writing credits (more details to be announced soon). She’s also playing a string of festival dates over the summer, ahead of her heading out on a UK headline tour in September visiting cities including Brighton, Manchester and London.  In an era of Instagram perfection, mental health crisis and growing pressures on young women - Georgia Meek is here to make a stand and spread some feminist joy through empowered pop anthems, she comments, “Honestly it’s really important to me to put out pop music with integrity - songs from the heart that give something more to the listener than just a catchy hook. If my music helps to heal even one person, I’ll be happy”.
