In this lesson we find two rather puzzling statements that reveal wonderful treasures for Christians today. In the commandment “you shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk”, early Christians saw the kind heart of God toward the newborn and vulnerable. Also, when the Lord says he will send an “angel” or messenger to lead His people into the Promised Land, He adds “My name is in him”. Early Christians saw in this statement a remarkable prophecy that revealed the name that would be given to the Son of God at His birth, 1400 years in advance. Understanding this prophecy can strengthen our own faith and better equip us to persuade unbelievers to come to faith in Jesus.
