My Reaction To The 2024 SEC Football Schedule Release | College Football 2023

The 2024 Southeastern Conference schedules were released yesterday. The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners will join the SEC in 2024, bringing the conference to 16 teams and abolishing divisions. Texas and Oklahoma each have tough schedules, but with their elite recruiting, they should compete in year one. As a result of divisions being removed, the teams with the two best conference records will play in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. Another consequence of this is many rivalries that were formed out of division placement will no longer be played every year. Also, the Lone Star Showdown is back, as Texas will travel to Texas A&M in 2024, facing them for the first time since 2011. The 2024 SEC Conference schedule was well thought out and balanced. I know there will be fans outside from other Power 5 conferences that think the 8-game slate is weak, but well-researched and unbiased college football fans know the schedules in-conference and out-of-conference will be tough. For example, Georgia will play road games at Texas and at Alabama, while also playing Clemson in a neutral-site matchup. Another storyline to follow is how will Arkansas, South Carolina, and Texas A&M perform, as all three avoid playing Alabama and Georgia in the regular season.
