My Son Called After 6 Years: What Surrender Actually Looks Like

from Intimate Conversations · host Allana Pratt

Some episodes are for you and I alone. They are teachings, transmissions, miracles unfolding in real time I want to share with you.  In this deeply personal solo episode of Intimate Conversations: Dark Night to Divine Light, I share what happened when a dream I had carried for over six and a half years finally came true... and why receiving it was far more profound than I could have imagined. After years of estrangement from my son, Mother's Day arrived with the familiar ache of longing and uncertainty. As the evening wore on and I still hadn't heard from him, I found myself surrendering in a way I hadn't before. Instead of trying to manifest, heal, fix, or focus on a future breakthrough, I allowed myself to fully accept the heartbreak exactly as it was. And then... he called ;-) I take you behind the scenes of the phone call, the last-minute flight to California, and the sacred reunion that followed. For hours, I simply listened as my son shared his life, his dreams, his disappointments, his relationships, and his heart. Rather than trying to be a coach, a teacher, or even a mother with answers, I discovered the healing power of presence, receiving, and unconditional love. I explore what it means to stop resisting reality, trust in divine timing, and allow life to unfold in ways we could never orchestrate ourselves. I share the lessons this reunion revealed about purpose, parenting, communication, nervous system healing, and the difference between living from competence versus living from genius. I also talk about: -Healing after six and a half years of estrangement -Why dreams coming true are not always what we expect -The power of surrender versus control -Deep listening as an act of love -Parenting adult children with grace and trust -Following your heart even when there are no guarantees -Divine timing and unexpected miracles -Emotional resilience and nervous system healing -Living your genius instead of settling for competence -The beauty of being fully seen, heard, and received -Why suffering grows when we resist what is -Creating intimacy through presence, not fixing -The evolution of The Intimate World and my upcoming Docuseries -Trusting that life is happening for you, not against you This episode is a love letter to every parent carrying a broken heart, every person waiting for a miracle, and every soul learning how to surrender more deeply to life.  It is a reminder that healing often arrives when we stop demanding that it happen, and that sometimes the most extraordinary gifts come wrapped in years of uncertainty, wobbly faith and yet nonetheless… pure devotion.
