My Thoughts On The ACC Conference Expansion Rumors | College Football 2023

College Football is going through another phase of conference realignment, one that started back in 2021 when the SEC Conference expanded by adding Texas and Oklahoma. Big Ten and Big 12 Conference expansion soon followed and eventually resulted in the cannibalization of the Pac-12 Conference, which now only has 4 members in Stanford, California, Oregon State, and Washington State. On Tuesday, rumors around the ACC Conference's own expansion plans began to circulate in the College Football world. While I think ACC expansion is necessary to protect the league and to keep the remaining Pac-12 schools from sinking into the group of 5 conferences, I think those actions should have been taken years ago. The ACC is looking to add Stanford, California, and potentially SMU to the conference. I also believe the ACC would be wise to add Oregon State and Washington State, with the former slowly developing into a football powerhouse.
