My Top 10 College Football Head Coaches For The 2023 Season | College Football 2023

If a program has endless blue-chip prospects to sign, a stacked roster full of NFL players, and one of the best staffs in College Football history, but lacks an elite CEO and game manager at head coach, they are eventually destined to fall. My Top 10 College Football head coaches (basically a CEO and game manager for all intents and purposes) for the 2023 season are Brian Kelly, Sonny Dykes, Kalen DeBoer, Luke Fickell, Dabo Swinney, Ryan Day, Jim Harbaugh, Kyle Whittingham, Kirby Smart, and Nick Saban. These coaches come from a variety of backgrounds with different levels of success, failure, and experience, but in my opinion, they share one thing in common. They all have the capacity to win at an elite level in College Football. Alabama's Nick Saban, Georgia's Kirby Smart, and Clemson's Dabo Swinney have won National Titles, and TCU's Sonny Dykes and Ohio State's Ryan Day have won a College Football Playoff game. The other five head coaches, despite not yet winning a playoff game or a national title, I think have the potential to win at that level. Utah's Kyle Whittingham, while I may never reach the playoffs, has done such a good job at maintaining a great College Football program that I must give him credit. He also has fielded two of his best team's in his tenure over the last two seasons, winning the Pac-12 Championship with a 10-4 record in both. I value recent success, a great track record at developing players, winning at the highest level, and also the ability to assemble a great assistant staff. Outside of Kirby Smart and Nick Saban, who occupy the top two spots in my rankings, the other eight spots are up for debate, with coaches such as Sonny Dykes and Kalen DeBoer having arguments to be removed from my list, while Dabo Swinney and Brian Kelly could be higher. I think that after the 2023 season is finished, Brian Kelly, Jim Harbaugh, and Kalen DeBoer will rise while Dabo Swinney, Kyle Whittingham, and Sonny Dykes will fall.
