The problem: it depends. Say you are in a hospital and further testing is required. The samples are analyzed at another provider, even within the same hospital system. That provider may be out of network, and you could be unaware of this fact. Yikes. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, you may or may not be able to prevent this from occurring. The idea that a law could change this? Unclear. Example #2. Joint replacement surgery, done on an outpatient basis. Here, Medigap will be worse because rehab requires 3-day inpatient hospital stay.
