Mysteriousnesses EP 46: Missing Scientist Vortex Files

John J Murray and Eric Readinger return with another descent into the strange, the paranormal, and the deeply unsettling. This week we explore a new study suggesting that alternate-dimensional versions of ourselves may actually influence our thoughts, emotions, and decisions. So if your life feels chaotic lately, there’s now a non-zero chance another version of you in a different reality is making things worse. We also discuss the disturbing disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, who has now been missing for over 100 days, and how stories like this always seem to drift into territory that feels far stranger than coincidence. Then things get extra conspiratorial as we look into the growing list of scientists, researchers, and engineers connected to UFO studies, advanced propulsion, and alternative energy projects who ended up mysteriously dead or missing. Is it paranoia? Bad luck? Or are certain doors not meant to be opened? We also dig into newly released UFO-related files from the Department of War, including reports that somehow raise more questions than answers, plus the bizarre story of a couple who claimed they became trapped driving through what appeared to be a vortex or looping stretch of reality where time and direction stopped making sense. And finally, we talk about the new paranormal series Widows Bay on Apple TV+ and whether it captures the true feeling of creeping supernatural dread… or just reminds us we should never trust coastal towns in fiction.
