Mystery Time (Kairos)

The Threshing Floor Radio Show-August 17, 2009 -Randy MaugansMystery #3: Time Kairos(καιρός) is the ancient Greek word meaning the right or opportune moment (the supreme moment), it signifies a time in between, a moment of undetermined period of time in which something special happens. The Bible is deliberately mysterious about time because GOD orchestrates it. It is a mystery---it can speed up---or slow down. From the human perspective it is completely perceptual, from GOD’s it is elastic. In scripture, as in music, it is based on intervals---the spaces between tones and beats. We do not control it, but we DO participate. Kronos and chairos intertwine, they swirl, they dance, and eventually, they intersect into spectacular events.
