from Own Your Essence · host April DeMille

***This is part one of our conversation with Rob Dorgan. Be sure to come back next week for part two.***Host April DeMille introduces her Own Your Essence podcast, her psychic medium readings and coaching, and guest Rob Dorgan, a professional astrologer, meditation and yoga teacher, retreat facilitator, and author of Awakening the Mystic. Rob shares leaving an academic PhD track after an epiphany and an astrology reading in the 1980s that led him into yoga and astrology, noting his grounded approach helps skeptics take esoteric practices seriously. He explains his memoir-fiction method and why it enables honesty and creative freedom, including audience engagement about what is real. Rob describes the “chairperson” of a chart as typically the ruler of the ascendant (with possible co-chair/committee), influenced by his Saturn-return dreams of a chart “council.” He outlines the mystical revolution as rising compassion and oneness, discusses Patanjali’s five kleshas (ignorance, ego, attachment, aversion, fear of death), and cites outgrowing organized religion after being rejected as a gay man. They close by previewing part two, where Rob reads April’s natal chart.Rob Dorgan is a certified yoga educator, international retreat facilitator, meditation teacher/devotee, and a practicing astrologer.
