Naked Lunch (1991) — "Exterminate all rational thought."
from The Kulturecast · host Weirding Way Media
William S. Burroughs' Naked Lunch was long considered unfilmable, so David Cronenberg sensibly didn't film it. Instead, Naked Lunch (1991) is a film about Burroughs writing it, with Peter Weller as an exterminator hooked on bug powder, taking orders from typewriters that turn into insects, alongside Judy Davis, Ian Holm and Roy Scheider. It's Cronenberg's body horror turned inward — toward addiction, sexuality and the act of writing itself — and it is every bit as weird as that sounds. Chris Stachiw, the Doctor of Podcasting, digs into David Cronenberg, William S. Burroughs, bug powder, and so much more.
