For the video version, click here: https://youtu.be/cCPyQXIIkLw After many years as a theatrical costume designer, college instructor, and band singer, Nancy spent years at sea singing on cruise ships. As the industry changed, Nancy became a theatrical costumer onboard. Rather than 5-month contracts, work changed from 1-week to 2-months instead. As the new theater cast came onboard, she was in charge of getting the costumes furbished and refit. She’s seen it from all sides as crew, contractor, and guest, and has a unique perspective on the industry. As of March of 2020 with the pandemic, ships stopped sailing, Thousands of entertainers and contractors have been left unemployed, and guests have been left without an outlet for their seafaring wanderlust. Will cruise ship entertainment ever return? Will this multi-billion dollar industry come back? That’s what we’ll discuss as Nancy has just returned from a ship where business is booming, and has lived to tell about it without illness or injury. So, is there hope? What’s happening out there? And what does the future look like in the cruise business?
