Today Jeannine and Kim interview Nathan Smiddy aka “Narcan Nate,” about a pivotal experience in his addiction that has led to his current life’s work and purpose in recovery. After hesitating to call 911 while witnessing the overdose of a sober living roomate, Nate has made it his mission to help spread resources and education about Narcan and fentanyl testing strips. Nate volunteers with A New Path, as well as Humanity Showers, an organization that provides resources and hygiene care for the homeless community in North County San Diego, where he also takes the opportunity to broaden the street outreach of his harm reduction education and information.
