Narrative | Sticks and Stones

from Momma Theologians | Christian Motherhood Ministry · host Momma Theologians

Be encouraged to lay down the sticks you cling to- sticks of temporal security, stability, and acceptance- and hold fast, instead, to Jesus- our cornerstone. "I am no better than Rebekah dashing from her tent, grasping her pot of goat stew, or Martha, darting around the house with dinner ingredients, all of us searching for the assurance that things will be okay, that we are okay. These desires are not the problem. We are wired by God to crave security, stability, acceptance. It’s where we look for them that we run into trouble. These sticks we carry are at best, temporal, and at worst, dangerous." She’s lived in Africa and Asia but is really just a country mouse with a Minneapolis zip code. She strongly believes in the restorative power of Jesus and a home-cooked meal, or even just a really good cheese, and writes mostly about how the image of God is uniquely understood and displayed in motherhood. You can find more of her words on her website, or on Instagram.
