from Roger the Wild Child Show · host Roger the Wild Child

On this episode of Roger The Wild Child Show: Nashville, we are joined by singer/songwriter David Gideon and country music artist, Andrea Vasquez!  Also, Callum Kerr returns as we discuss the weekly recap of Fox’s new hit series, Monarch!DAVID GIDEONDavid Gideon is the kind of larger-than-life character you'd read about in a Jack Kerouac novel: adventure seeking, well traveled, and a little bit wild, with stories to tell and songs to sing.He mixes autobiography, tall tales, and old-school country twang on Lonesome Desert Strum. Recorded in Nashville and largely written in the American southwest, it's an album that establishes Gideon as one of the genre's unsung heroes. There are honky-tonk barn burners, campfire ballads, southern slow dances, and rootsy rave-ups, all glued together by a frontman who's every bit as colorful as the songs he writes.Born to artistic parents, Gideon grew up on the move, bouncing between Austin, Key West, and rural Tennessee during his early years. He spent his summers on the Farm — an infamous hippie commune, located more than an hour's drive from Nashville — where he was given his first access to a drum set. Originally trained in jazz and worldbeat percussion, he broadened his skillset to include guitar and songwriting, too. He eventually headed west, where he performed hundreds of shows, worked as a DJ in clubs, logged multiple years as a ranch hand in Northern California, and eventually settled in Billy the Kid's hometown — the rugged, remote town of Silver City, New Mexico — where he wrote many of the songs that would later fill Lonesome Desert Strum. ANDREA VASQUEZPowerhouse vocals and unstoppable attitude combine in the petite package that is Andrea Vasquez. The California native has blended her love of modern country and Latin-American roots to create a refreshing sound within the genre. Inspired by the likes of Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, and The Chicks, Andrea has been crafting her unique sound since she was little. Born in L.A. to an extremely musical family, she started playing violin, piano and guitar at a young age which inspired her to also begin writing her own songs. A move back to California would become the catalyst to pursuing music. After finishing school, Andrea packed up for Nashville to realize her dream of a career in country music. In Nashville, she released her first single Sugar Coat It which surpassed 113k streams on Spotify and took Andrea on her first radio tour. From there, Andrea released serval other singles including Runnin’ Wild, Bed You Made, Used To and Made Me Cry, which achieved major success on curated Spotify and Apple Music playlists, received praise from CMT by adding her music videos to their online playlist rotation and received praise from critically-acclaimed outlets including The Morning Hangover. With her undeniable stage presence and songs that match mainstream major quality, Andrea is establishing herself within country music as one to watch.******Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville is streamed live every Sunday night 8pm ET/ 5pm PT on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
