Nathan Cruz - What went wrong with ITV's WOS wrestling reboot?
from Wrestling Life with Ben Veal · host Wrestling Life Online
Wrestling fans rejoiced in 2016 at the news that ITV was bringing back 'World of Sport' to TV screens for the first time in more than three decades. The beloved home of Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks, Kendo Nagasaki and many more grappling greats would be re-introduced for a modern audience. #WOSwrestling #worldofsport #nathancruz #grado #willospreay #britishwrestling Any initial concerns about how professional wrestling would be presented to the UK mainstream were swiftly overcome by the stacked talent roster brought in for WOS Wrestling - Grado, Will Ospreay, Rampage Brown, Sha Samuels, Nathan Cruz and Davey Boy Smith Jr all competed on the new show, with legendary WWE and WCW personality and current AEW customer Jim Ross calling the action and famous faces such as Jeff Jarrett and Stu 'Wade Barrett' Bennett adding to the big show feel. Yet despite all of this, WOS Wrestling was axed by ITV after just one season - and while it would pave the way for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) to forge a very successful partnership with the channel, it can certainly be argued that a big opportunity was missed to showcase the very best of British wrestling scene in its brightest light to a national audience. In this clip from the debut episode of 'Wrestling Life with Ben Veal', British wrestling star Nathan Cruz shares his memories of being part of the WOS talent roster, what went wrong, and how the show - presented in a different way - could have been a big success.
