Welcome to the Tweed Trends podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I mean, that's pay girl. And you are tuned in to Tweed Trends.

It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. All right, guys. Well, today is a national couples day. And what better reason to bring my husband in on the show?

He's the apple to my jacks, the syrup to my waffles, my better half. You want to say hey? Hey, everybody. How you doing out there?

I love this woman. Aw, you don't have to say that. I do. You're so sweet.

I try. OK, all right. We're going to stop being so mushy and keep this ball rolling. Keep the ball rolling.

So with it being couples day, although we're a married couple, we both know that you don't have to be married to be a couple. People that are dating. And now there are so many different types of couples out there. I don't even know that I could name them all.

There's polyamorous. Is that right? Polymoris. Amorous.

I think it's polyamorous. Polyamorous. Monogamous. Can you think of any other types of couples?

I don't because I think that however they are, if they find themselves to be a couple, they don't need a label to allow themselves to be a couple. Look at you. So no labeling then. We're just all couples.

Everybody's just one big, happy group of couples. Well, we both know that being a couple isn't necessarily walk in the park at Petarosas every day. That there are certain ingredients, certain parts to it that are needed in order for it to be successful. What do you think is one of those main pieces?

I think one of the main pieces to this recipe is to be willing to recognize that when you started this relationship, you would do anything for that person. And so in the relationship, then you also realize that you would do anything for that person, whether it's having late night conversations, whether it's going to counseling, whether it's dating, just all the above in some fashion to go back to the basics. I agree. Definitely.

Communication is a really big deal in a relationship. If you can't communicate, then you pretty much just can't be together. It makes it difficult. Just a little.

And I like what you said about the counseling piece as well. For some reason, people tend to be very, and I don't know if it's just Americans or people in general, that have an issue with having to go get help for, I guess, things that they think that they should just know how to do. But there's no book on, well, I guess there are books on being a couple, but there's no one way to be a happy couple. So what book may work for one couple may not work for the next.

I agree. But being able to go and actually seek help when you realize that everything you're doing isn't working is definitely. Well, it's a good resource. There are lots of things that you come into the marriage to the relationship with, because again, it's not just a marriage since we're talking couples.

But you come into that knowing who you are as a person. You spend a sufficient amount of time learning the other person. And there are times where you may think that you're doing all the right things for the other person, and you just may not be. And it's subtle communications, certain things that you used to see, but don't see anymore because of complacency, not intending to take the other partner for granted, but just assuming that they'll always be there.

And sometimes you don't get back to the basics often enough. Yes, like dating. Let's talk about dating now. Let's talk about dating.

When people first start dating, in my opinion, that's the easy part. It seemed like dating was really easy. Did it seem easy for you? Dating was not easy.

No. No, dating is difficult. Why? Because once you start realizing that you like that person, you don't want to do anything to cause them to dislike you.

So you have to make sure you mind your p's and q's. Maybe something's wrong with me because I don't recall feeling that way. You thought dating was easy. Wow.

Yeah, I feel like it's harder now that we're married because it's like we've been at this for 13 years, married. We dated before that. And so I feel like at this point, we're like that well-oiled machine. We get up and go to work.

We fix food. We take care of kids and stuff like that. And so I feel like it's harder now to date you because we've got so much stuff in only 24 hours in a day. OK.

I can see that perspective. And I think I was looking at the perspective of kind of being honest, a song, accepting someone with flaws and all. So there's always this revealing each time you encounter the person in the dating process. As you're establishing a relationship, it's if when she finds this thing out, is she still going to be OK with me when she finds this thing?

When she meets my family, is she going to run? Or is she going to be like, hey, you know what? That family of yours is pretty cool. So there are different levels to the revelation of who you are as a person in totality that you don't know how they're going to receive that and if they want to ride with that or not.

OK. Now I can see that as far as when you first meet a person. But once you become a couple, I feel like it's not as difficult. Do you think after you become a couple?

Absolutely. Really? Yes, because all people that become couples don't stay couples. Well, that's true.

But I don't think, well, that's for a number of reasons. Right. There's some revelation that they say, hey, yeah, this is my stop. I'm getting off right here.

Well, you know, and I think that in a relationship, knowing what your non-negotiables are is very important. Because that will help you possibly stop the disaster from happening before you even get to the couple level. Absolutely. You can kind of see it and wave them off and be like, all right, you're done kick rocks.

Fair enough. Fair enough. I think so in arguing the other side to your point, it's difficult because as you spend more time around each other, you just assume that the person's going to want sushi. This person's going to want to go to movies.

And so you start doing the same thing, and it becomes more routine than it becomes intentional to create the spark and keep the spark going. OK. Yeah, I can definitely see that. I've actually been in that situation before where the dating part wasn't even really dating anymore.

It was just the assumption of, oh, yeah, she's hungry. I'm sure. Go get something to eat. And it was like I felt like he was trying to turn me into a fat girl.

All he wanted to do was feed me. And I'm like, do I look greedy? And that's why I chase you around the house to keep you from being a fat girl. Really?

Now I know. I'm just going to stop running. How about that? OK, so to wrap up this National Couples Day episode, let's see if we can offer some ideas and suggestions on what couples can do to celebrate today.

Let's do that. I think that we can start by saying that the dating, the interaction, should be intentional. It should be planned. It should be scheduled.

And you should hold each other accountable to make time for each other. I can go along with that. That sounds good. I'd say do something where you can make some memories.

Don't go out and buy a gift or something. Buy an experience. Go mountain climbing, skydiving, something. Doing a skate room?

Oh, yeah, I skate room. Yeah, we need we're overdue for an escape room. We are overdue for an escape room challenge. I think doing team building exercises, things that would challenge you outside the box that actually give you an opportunity to realize why you wanted to be in a relationship with that person to begin with.

You took mine. I was going to say think outside of the box when you're trying to come up with these different ideas. You're the creative one of the two of us. So I think you can conjure another one up in a moment.

Let's see. Just sit down and talk. Just sit down face to face. Just look into each other's eyes and just talk.

Have conversations. A long time. Doesn't always have to be physical. It can be emotional.

It can be spiritual. It can be just going back to the basics of identifying in your mind why you want it to be with this person in a relationship and exploring the conversations that may follow. Ooh, and while you're doing that, you can journal it. You can write it down.

So that civilizations to come can find it and then see what couples and levels all about in the those ancient prehistoric days in the 2020 is. Really? How about that? Wrap it up with that and make each other laugh because laughter is definitely the best medicine and we'll get you to eat some really tough times.

This person has realized her comedic spark. I don't know where she's been the past 15 years. I've always been funny. I can't help it.

You don't have a sense of humor. I've been the funniest person I know. I appreciate your newfound humor. Yeah.

Now you come second place. Just ask me. I'll take it. I'll take it.

Well, that was today's episode of Tweet Trends. Guys, I had so much fun on this episode with my husband that I'm going to do something that is probably unheard of. I don't know. I'm going to extend National Couples Day to a week long or even you know what?

A month long event. And with that, I'm going to bring him back on the show and we're also going to have another couple come in and we'll celebrate National Couples Month as well as the fact that this is actually Romance Awareness Month. Did you know that? Yeah, I bet you didn't because I didn't until I found out.

And now you know because I'm telling you. So yeah, keep an eye out. Keep an ear out. Follow me on IG and Twitter at HEVET.

That's at HEYEVETTE or just look for the hashtag tweet trends. And you are going to see us all again and I think it's going to be a pretty cool conversation. So like I said, keep an eye out. It's coming in the meanwhile.

Have a great day and I'll see you back here on Thursday.
