Welcome to the Tweet Trends Podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette, hey girl, and you are tuned in to Tweet Trends. It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today.
Ding, dong, ding, dong, happy National Dingling Day. Yes, guys, you heard me right. Today is National Dingling Day. It started off as a day trying to remind people to reach out and touch someone that they hadn't been in contact with in a while.
Did I take you back in the way back machine with that? AT&T, reach out and touch? Huh? Yeah, those of you that are younger, I get it.
You don't understand. It's an old people thing. But, seriously, so National Dingling Day started off as a day to remind people to call those people, their friends, their relatives, that they haven't talked to in a while, but then it morphed into something bigger. Basically, anything that makes you think of dingling, whether it is bells ringing or silly acting people.
So what does that mean? That means this episode could go just about anywhere. So let's get started. So, here I am in front of Walmart and I found a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.
Hi, how are you? I'm doing great this morning. I'm well. Where?
So, I want to be able to hear your voice. I know you've just watched your jog, ringing your bell. So now, what can you tell my listeners about the Salvation Army and what you do for them and why they should do something as well? Yes, the Salvation Army was founded by Mr.
Boone, I believe about 200 years ago. And it is a Salvation Army is an outreach for helping others. There's unfortunate in those in need. If you're needing to help with anything, you're Christian, you're a Deli, niece.
Which is the Deli, niece. Salvation Army is a great place to go. Salvation Army also is a church. Oh, I didn't know that.
Yes, Salvation Army also is a church. If you don't have a church home or you would like somewhere to go, go to the Salvation Army. Where there are great men and women, there are two, we're glad you in the right direction. And they also will let you know about the Salvation Army.
Like I said, Salvation Army will help those in need. Right, it's just kind of like an entry tree out that you can receive donations from the Salvation Army. You can donate to the Salvation Army. Salvation Army helps those that say it's a Christian time.
It's not only a Christian time, but throughout the year. And if you're in need, you go to the Salvation Army. We're here. That's awesome.
Well, I'm going to help out the Salvation Army today. And thank you for all you do out here in the cold, because it is chilly out your day. And you are ringing this bell. Yes.
It's for a good cause. Yes. It's for a good cause. And I can say it would help those ones that doesn't need you.
Yes. Oh, and I see you have Apple Pay and Google Pay. Yes, you can donate to the Google Pay or Apple Pay if you don't have a cashew donate. But you can donate to that and it goes straight to the Salvation Army.
So there is no reason why all of you out there cannot get out and donate a little something every little bit counts, guys. All right. Well, thank you. Thank you.
And can I hear that bell again? In celebration of National Dingling Day, what I want to do now is highlight five songs I feel go right along with the day. Perfectly, right? Two for the season.
One, Jingle Bells. Two, Silver Bells. Two for the culture. This one.
Oh, yeah. Elo Cool J. Rock the Bells. And Diana Ross, you can ring my bell.
And the last one, number five. This one is for straight up comedy. If you do not know this song, if you've never heard this song, I want you to go on YouTube and look up a video of Chuck Berry performing his song called My Dingling. And I hope you run across the video where it's a black and white video of him performing it live in front of a group of people.
Everybody knows the words and they're singing it in their giggling because this is a funny song. So if you're down in the dumps, if you're feeling depressed, go look up this song and listen to it. And I guarantee you're going to get a little chuck a lot of it. It is straight up hilarious to me.
I've been sucking my head since I was listening to it early this morning. So those are my five songs that I say go along with National Dingling Day. If you have a song, please, by all means, share it with me. You know where to find me.
I'm on Twitter. Last but not least, let's take a moment to actually focus on the real purpose of why National Dingling Day became a day in the first place. It was a day set aside to remind people to stop for a moment and remember your friends and relatives that you haven't been in contact with for a while and actually pick up the phone and call them because, you know, we're in this social media age where everybody shouts people out on Facebook. People text messages and that's fine and dandy, but it's something about taking time out of your day to pick up the phone and talk to someone.
You're giving them your time. You're giving them your attention. You're giving them your energy. And that means something because time is money in my case.
So, you know, to say that you're going to take time out to actually invest it in somebody else, that means everything. That could make someone's day. That could turn their whole month around just knowing that you took the time out of your schedule to give them a call and say, hey, what's up, dog? How you doing?
So, find somebody or, you know, if you've got enough time, find a person a day from now until the new year. You know, I think that'd be pretty cool. Today's the 12th. So, that's a considerable amount of people now.
If you do well keeping in contact with people, you won't have that many people to fill up those days. But if you're like me, you got a lot of friends out there that you haven't talked to in a while, it can't hurt to pick a person a day. Give them a call and say, hey, I was thinking about you. How have you been?
All right, Dinglings. Well, that's today's episode. Do me a favor. Head on over to Twitter and follow me at hevet.
