Welcome to the Tweed Trends Podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette, hey girl! And you are tuned in to Tweed Trends.

It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. Welcome back to Tweed Trends. Today is National Maple Surp Day. So, today's episode is going to be about my favorite things.

Okay, I know. Let me explain. Maple Surp is great for breakfast. For breakfast, I enjoy eating waffles.

Waffles are one of my favorite things. Therefore, maple syrup makes me think of my favorite things. There you have it. So, but, you know, the more I think about it, this show's going to be about a little bit more than that.

But let's go ahead and get started. Speaking of my favorite things, Oprah and other celebrities are notorious for putting out lists of their favorite things. Some of the items on the list are reasonable, and then others, well, I would never be able to call them my favorites because I couldn't afford to use them in the first place. So, with this in mind, I have curated my own list of my five favorite things of this year.

And when you put this out there, I do not get paid by any company to promote any items. So therefore, this is truly a list of things that I like. Got it? Good.

First thing on my list, it's some face wipes. They're called Clean's Clean Beauty. It's a coconut water hibiscus face wipes, and they spell clean C-L-E-E-N, so clean beauty. I'm pretty sure I got these from Walmart one day after a workout.

I just felt really yucky. My face felt weird, and picked these wipes up, and I love them. Not only are they good wipes, but they are formulated without parabens, synthetic fragrances and dyes, petroleum-derived ingredients. I want to say you pronounce it phthalates, but I'm not quite sure about that one, but it doesn't have any of those either.

But don't take it from me. You can head on over to their website at cleanbeauty.com. That's C-L-E-N-Beauty.com to find out more information about the Clean's Clean Beauty coconut water hibiscus face wipes. Another thing that I love.

Yeah, I more than just like it. I love it. It is my Fenty Beauty eyeliner. Yes, it's called Flyliner, though.

It's a long-wear liquid eyeliner, and the color is Cosine Black. I'm just realizing this today. I don't think I noticed that at all prior to today that that was the name of the color, but I started doing the whole wing thing with my eyes, and this eyeliner makes it so freaking easy that it's not even funny. I am so not that girl, but when I use it, I am that girl.

That's Fenty Beauty, the Flyliner. Another thing that I like. There's nothing in particular to call it other than just experiences. If you wanted to give me a gift, give me an experience, give me a ticket to a play or some activity to do something, to go mountain climbing, skydiving, something, scuba diving.

But it seems to me that, and I know I'm not the only one, that we take life so seriously, that we don't stop to smell the roses and do the fun stuff that's around us, like every day. So experiences, those are some of my favorite things. Gift cards as well. Gift cards.

Favorite things. Why? Because you're not putting me in a box saying, bam, here's this, here's that. As a teacher, I found it as much as I'd love to get the presents from the kids.

It was one of those things kind of like, yeah, this is the season that my house gets junkied because kids get you stuff that you don't really need, and then you feel bad about getting rid of it. So, yeah, gift cards, that's what my daughter's teachers are getting this year. They're getting gift cards, and they can go buy whatever it is they need that they want. And so these are generic gift cards as well, like a grocery store.

Don't feel bad about giving somebody a grocery store gift card, okay? Because you know they eat. Simple as that. And if they don't like that particular store, guess what?

They'll re-gift it to somebody else, so you help them out anyway. Last but not least, there's this app called Stockpile. Well, actually, it's a website as well. I haven't actually seen the app.

I haven't downloaded it yet because I don't have space on my phone, but that's not the story. But Stockpile app is where you can gift somebody shares of stock, and that's what I'm gifting the kids in our lives this year. They're getting stock. They're not getting a toy that they're going to play with for a little bit and put it off to the side.

They're getting stock. So those are my favorite favorite things. The Clean Beauty Face Wipes, my Flyliner, eyeliner from Fenty, experiences, gift cards, and Stockpile. I don't know about you, but I remember 1999 like it was yesterday.

And to think that was 20 years ago, where did the time go? Oh my goodness. But anyway, my memory is failing me because I really can't remember what happened in 2019. So I'm going to blame it on those 20 years between 1999 and now as to why I can't really remember what happened this year.

So I decided I would revisit it and just bring up a couple of things that meant a lot to me this year. But I had to look them up because, like I said, I couldn't remember anything right off the top of my head. Why is that? Because impeachment is all that anybody is talking about right now.

That is such a hot button topic that it's like it has wiped everything else clear. So I'm mentioning this not because it's important to me, but I'm not saying that that's not important because this is just the fourth time in the United States history that this is even coming up for a president. But because we're leaving through these times right now, it's important, even though I lived through Clinton's impeachment. So it's not like we haven't done this before, but this one seems like it's playing out completely different than that one did.

So it's there. It's a part of what's going on. I figured I should mention it. Now Old Town Road, on the other hand, this song feels like it's been around for years.

I don't know why, but it hasn't even been a year yet. However, this song was the longest running number one song on the hot 100 history. So I said on it in hot 100 history. Other musical history that's been made Missy, Miss Demeanor Elliott was inducted to the songwriters Hall of Fame.

Yay! The highlight for me on this is that she is the only female rapper to receive this honor and has a female and a connoisseur of rap. I think it's pretty dope. Brie Larson playing Carol Danvers becomes Captain Marvel, one of the universe's most powerful heroes.

I love my Marvel comics and I thought this was pretty darn awesome. So big ups to Brie Larson. Now this other one is another one that's personal to me. I'm feeling this.

This is the first time in pageant world history that all five major titles, Miss America, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss Universe, and Miss World are black women. And as a black woman, that means so much to me because if you're not a black female, let me tell you what it was like growing up. When you didn't see people that look like you in magazines and on television, you don't realize it's affecting you until you start seeing these people. In magazines and then it's kind of like, oh my gosh, wow, you know, kind of like the whole thing with Barack Obama becoming president and then all of a sudden black people feel like, oh, I can become president.

And then you got people like Kanye, they're thinking that they're going to run. Like, come on, seriously, that happened this year too. He's talking about it. But yeah, so that is super duper awesome to me.

And then last but not least, I revived Tweet Trends this year. So I'd like to know from you what 2019 events are on your radar that meant a lot to you. So I know looking back on the year isn't technically one of my favorite things, but it brought a type of joy and excitement to look at where we've been this year, but then also to kind of project out to look to see what are we looking forward to in the coming year. And I know one of the big things is an extra day.

Hey, it's a leap year coming up. So I don't know what you're playing on doing with your extra day. I'm going to try to use it to the best of my ability. An extra 24 hours.

What are you kidding me? Gotta do something epic with it. Also, some are Olympics and Paralympics are coming in 2020, which I love anything Olympic related. I realize this to me, the Olympics are just so exciting.

So some are Olympics and then those are the warm weather type sports. I'm all for it. Less plastic pollution. That's something we can look forward to in 2020.

So get used to those paper straws. Y'all get used to it. And you know, it's funny because the little twizzle sticks that you used to get when you're a kid that had the powdery stuff in it, those were paper straws. And I did not have a problem with those paper straws at all, but I am really struggling to get used to paper straws, drinking out of them at restaurants and stuff.

Last but not least, I know I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to a new year and a new me to look back at the things that maybe I didn't do so well this year. Look at times that maybe I procrastinated when I should have been jumping. Just, there are a number of things that I see where I may have gotten off the beaten path and I want to make up for that. But I'm not going to beat myself down over it.

I'm just going to do better next time. I'm going to try to make better decisions and not be so timid and afraid of what the world around me has to say about the decisions that I make. I'm the only me out there. So if somebody wants to criticize me, they're going to criticize me for no matter what decision I make.

So might as well do me and be happy with me than worrying about everybody else. I mean, nobody got time for that. Alright, well that was today's episode of Tweet Trends. Thanks for joining me.

Now all I need for you to do is do me a favor. I know you've already done it, so phone a friend and tell them to head on over to Twitter and follow me at HEVAT. That's at H-E-E-V-E-T-T-E or just look for the hashtag Tweet Trends. It's National Maple Surf Day.

So enjoy breakfast for dinner. I'm sure most people probably have already had breakfast today. I know I have. But if you haven't, enjoy surf with your breakfast today too.

Even if you're having toast. A little dab of maple syrup never hurt anybody. And I'll see you on Thursday. Bye guys.
