Nationals Demote Beeter After Rough Season | Washington Nationals News

The Nationals finally broke their seven-game skid with a gritty 4-3 win over the Angels, but the victory comes amid serious bullpen turmoil — they’ve already set a MLB record for blown saves this season. With spring training looming, manager Davey Martinez has made a bold move: optioning closer Clayton Beeter to Triple-A Rochester. After a disastrous second half — his ERA ballooning to 5.66 since the All-Star break and a brutal 8.59 in his last seven outings — Beeter’s control issues (13 walks in 20+ innings) have made him expendable. The roster is wide open, and the next 13 games are make-or-break for players vying for a spot on the 2026 roster.
