Nationwide tobacco cartel raid; knife-wielding man tasered; pedestrian hit by garbage truck

from 7News Just In · host LiSTNR

Sydney's major independent service station chain, Metro Fuel, faces nationwide coordinated raids by the Australian Border Force and Federal Police over alleged involvement in the illicit tobacco trade, with over 100 service stations suspected across five states and the ACT. A 43-year-old man was tasered and arrested on Belmore Street in Burwood after allegedly carrying four large knives, a hammer, cannabis and methamphetamine. Police allege he was conducting a drug transaction inside Emerald Square Plaza when officers spotted him and a 26-year-old companion, prompting both men to flee. A 20-year-old motorbike rider has died after colliding with a car on Lindesay Street, Campbelltown. The man was thrown from his trail bike in the crash, while the 34-year-old female driver was uninjured. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
