Navigating Disorderliness—2 Thessalonians—Josiah Kagin

The church at Thessalonica was about a year old and had faced much persecution and were being perplexed by false teachers. They specifically were teach that the day of the Lord was already come. This caused questions believers who had died and what would happen to them. It also caused some believers to quit their jobs and lazily await the second coming of the Lord. In both letters, Paul addressed the false teaching by reminding them of what they had been taught and urging them to continue to be faithful to Christ. In our passage, Paul is specifically helping the church navigate the situation of those who were living disorderly lives and not working.
