Navigating Grief as a Family

from Thrive Like A Parent · host Dr. Brooke Weinstein

EP:129 This week, I decided to try something I've always wanted to do - bring my kids on the podcast. My older son Charlie joined me, and I'm so proud of how he opened up and shared his perspective. As a child who lost his dad to suicide, Charlie has a unique understanding of grief and resilience. He talked about the difficulty of seeing other kids with their dads, and how it felt to have male role models like my partner Carter step in to fill that void. It's been a journey for all of us, but I'm in awe of how Charlie has weathered the storm.   EP:129 He acknowledged the stress and sadness I experienced in that first year, but also recognized how I've been able to be more present for him and his brother as time has passed. Charlie's advice for other families going through loss is to keep believing - that there is always a solution around the corner, and that with trust and love, you can emerge as an even stronger team. I'm so grateful to Charlie for his honesty and vulnerability in sharing his story. Listening to Charlie's perspective has deepened my own understanding of our family's experience. He's a remarkable young man, wise beyond his years. I hope that by opening up about our journey, we can provide comfort and inspiration to others facing unimaginable challenges. Our family may look different, but the love and support we share is what truly matters.    Links & Resources: 📘 Check out more episodes of Thrive Like a Parent - https://drbrookeweinstein.com/thrive-podcast/ 📸 Follow Dr. B on Instagram -   https://bit.ly/48VZI5e   🌐 Visit our website for more resources on self-care and well-being - https://drbrookeweinstein.com   #grief #resilience #familylove #mentalhealth
