Navigating Spiritual Abuse & Religious Trauma with Kayla Felten

from Empowered Connection Podcast · host Daniel Cordua & Kayla Felten

Themes: Religious Trauma, Spiritual Abuse, Spirituality, Religion, Trauma, Healing, Relationships, Self Empowerment, Inner Wisdom, Patriarchy, Kayla Felten, MSW, LICSW  has been an advocate for religious trauma and spiritual abuse survivors throughout her career, as the co-founder of the Reclamation Collective and as a Psychedelic Therapist in her clinical work.  Kayla has been able to support those in the process of reclaiming their inner peace, relational harmony, autonomy, pleasure, and authentic self.  She was initially invited to facilitate support groups for survivors of spiritual abuse due to abuses of power taking place in plant medicine and yogi contexts within Minnesota. This experience helped expand her understanding of spiritual abuse both within and outside of religious contexts, and has allowed her to become a voice of advocacy within the psychedelic and therapeutic communities she shows up in. Through years experience facilitating support groups, integration circles, retreats, and teaching workshops for folks navigating themes of religious trauma, spiritual abuse, deconstruction, and reclamation through the Reclamation Collective, Kayla aspires to curate expanded offerings for survivors on their healing trajectories that prioritize personal autonomy and pursue radical authenticity. This is powerful conversation between Kayla & host Daniel Cordua - an important listen for those who have felt religious trauma in their lives, who are part of spiritual and/or religious communities and/or take on teachers from those circles, who are leaders in those communities, or who have experience spiritual abuse. We talk about:- What is trauma?  How do we know we are experiencing it?- What exactly is religious trauma?  How do we experience it?- Kayla’s own experience experiencing and then navigating her religious trauma- Gaining distance, perspective, clarity and a life-giving deconstruction of our religious experiences- Religious trauma for women, trans-communities, queer folk, and all gender identifications- What is spiritual abuse?  How do we experience - and/or perpetrate it consciously and unconsciously- Power dynamics in religious communities, spiritual communities, healing spaces, therapy, and plant medicine circles- The amazing “Spiritual Power Inventory” tool that I think all religious, spiritual, & healing communities, members and leaders should employand much more!Connect with Kayla & the Reclamation Collective: reclamationcollective.comConnect with Daniel for your Free Discovery Session -  for individuals + couples who are ready to explore, illuminate + empower their lives & their relationshipsSUMMER SALE !
