On July 24, World Bank Global Lead for Technology Innovation in Education Robert Hawkins spoke with World Bank Education Specialist Alex Twinomugisha about Alex's journey from African Virtual University to the Global e-Schools and Communities Initiative (GeSCI) to Intel Corporation’s Education and Government Digital Transformation work in East Africa. -- Robert Hawkins is the World Bank's Senior Education & Technology Policy Specialist and Global Lead for Technology and Innovation in Education, working on issues at the intersection of technology use and education in middle- and low-income countries and emerging markets around the world. At a practical level, Bob provides advice and technical assistance to governments seeking innovative ways to improve teaching and learning in the classroom and strategic advice on improvement of education systems and management. Alex Twinomugisha is a Senior Education Technology Specialist in the World Bank working on technology in education issues. Alex has spent over 20 years working on education and technology policy and program design, procurement and deployment at basic education (K-12), vocational and higher education levels. A core member of the World Bank's global edtech team, Alex’s interests and expertise focus on designing, developing and using technology to solve some of education’s most difficult challenges in developing countries.
