NC bill banning books with sex descriptions in school libraries passes through house committee

A North Carolina House committee on Tuesday approved a bill that would prohibit books with sexual activity in libraries and allow parents and county residents to sue schools over books deemed inappropriate for students.House Bill 636 passed the House Education Committee and now advances to the full chamber for consideration.The legislation would establish new procedures for selecting and removing school library materials, including creating community advisory committees to evaluate books.
