Ne Plus Ultra - Episode 8: Free Will Fallacies

from Comrade Cast · host Spencer Downing

Welcome everyone to the eighth episode of Ne Plus Ultra - Free Will Fallacies. Free will is a massive philosophical topic, in fact, perhaps the longest running debate in the history of philosophy and today we will try and add another page to this epic volume. Oddly it seems, overtime, the philosophical thought on free will has begun to lean against its existence, even though people today enjoy more freedoms than they have ever had. In this episode we will try and reverse that trend, if possible, and lay out a case for free will. We talk about competing conceptions of free will, and the common arguments put forth by both sides. As well, we use a little bit of Sam Harris to lay our foundation. Come and join me if you will as we explore one of the oldest philosophical questions of all time. In the second segment of the podcast, we talk a lot about Bernie Sanders. Many people seem to be feeling the Bern after New Hampshire and have a lot to say on the subject. But we also tackle a sexual assault trial sweeping the nation of Canada and answer some more light hearted questions. It's another wild ride for the part of your brain that enjoys the finer things here on Ne Plus Ultra. Stay thinking my friends. -Spencer Show Notes: Sam Harris, Free Will (2002)
