In the dead of night, as people sleep, that's when the spirits creep. As the belt holes three, dark things take power. We like to call it the supernatural hour. Hey, welcome to the supernatural hour.
I'm Don, I'm here with... I'm Tim. And Raven, with my psycho funny kind of a drag-old raven. Drag queen raven?
Bit drag-old. Not the dazzled one. Not the dazzled one. There's no badezzling, although it is going to sparkle me.
It's got some glitter on it. What the hell is bedraggled? When you're like, look like you've been drugged through the mud. Drag-old.
It's a word. I'm not an English major like you are. Well, I'm not either, but... You wrote a book.
I did. So you're smarter than words than I am? No, no, no, I have my days. Words are hard.
There are sometimes I use words and Don looks at me like, you are an idiot. That's not what that means. Anyway, we're going to have an interesting show. We're going to talk a little bit about near-death and after-life experiences.
We've got some interesting information to share and we're going to have Tim talk a little bit about some of the business and some of the things we've got coming up in advance. So should be next Saturday, February the 22nd, we are having an investigation at the Family Tree restaurant. This investigation will include dinner and the price for the tickets are $50. And we will start that event about eight o'clock.
We'll start with dinner. I'm having scones. Scones are awesome. Like I said in the last episode, I'm probably going to get the cheeseburger.
It might make up a little bit. Those buns that they make on those cheeseburgers are like, crack to me. They're so damn good. I don't know why.
I love those things. We'll start the dinner about eight o'clock. And then from there, we'll just kind of sit around and chat until the kitchen gets out and gets cleaned up and leaves the restaurant. While we're doing that, we will go through some EVPs that we've got in the past and talk a little bit about some of our experiences that we have there at the restaurant and what to expect.
Hopefully, while we're there, we'll have a good experience. The Family Tree is fairly active and it's very rare that we do not have activity there. So it should be a fun time if you haven't already bought your tickets and if it's not sold out, I highly recommend giving your tickets. We're doing this one.
This is our first one of the year. Like we kind of mentioned in one of our previous episodes, we're kind of cut back. We're probably only going to do four investigations of a year unless there's more demand. If there's a venue that we've done and you missed and you really want us to do it, well, we'll look into it.
But as right now, we're kind of cutting back to just the four investigations a year. So this might be your only opportunity to do Family Tree with us this year. Right. But don't be afraid that you won't get to see us every month because on the months that we don't do an investigation, we are going to have activities.
You get to get togethers, dinners, some fun stuff. So definitely keep an eye on the web page because we will have, even if it's not an investigation every month, we will have an activity every month. You might be go to a scary movie that's just released. Exactly.
You might be just hanging out at the park. You could come clean my house. It could be clean my house, me. No?
That one? You're down for that one? I'm down for that one. You know, I'll find someone named May and I'll have a come out clean my house.
I know someone named May. Don't tell me to go clean my house, May. All right. Okay.
You don't have to come clean my house. Well, find fun stuff to do. So be on the lookout for that. Also if you would like to, you can visit our website, AdvancedPairNormal.com and go to the Merchandise tab and check out some of the awesome merchandise that we have.
We sell t-shirts, women's tank tops, coffee mugs, travel mugs, notebooks and a bunch of other stuff. I believe there's a tote bag as well. To have our logos on it, both the AdvancedPairNormal logo and the Supernatural Hour logo. So go check that out and buy some cool stuff.
We have some of the pictures and some of the stuff that we bought on our Facebook page and AdvancedPairNormal. I don't know if there's any other list page where we can get some up there, but we also have stickers and hats and stuff that you can purchase at our venues or at our events if you can come to the Family Tree. We do have like Sage and Selenite and DowsingRods that you can purchase there to use on your car, laptop, whatever. The stickers are awesome.
I've just got the AdvancedPairNormal sticker and the Supernatural Hour sticker on the back of my vehicle. They're really cool. So go and check out the Merchandise there at AdvancedPairNormal.com. Yeah, proceeds from that help pay for the websites and the web hosting and all the different things that we do and you know, the front money for some of the venues and things that we have to pay for.
So it helps to fray our hobby costs. Well, and some of the proceeds also, like you said, go to, right now we just have the four venues we do. Some of them are a little more pricey, so when we can bring in a little bit more money, we can actually go to places like the Silent 49 and possibly solve there. Some of the more haunted places that we don't get to visit very often.
Well, right. Anything else, business-wise? I think that's it. And we're not aware of any investigations that have happened in the last two weeks.
No, because through the Magic of Podcasting, the last episode was actually recorded about an hour ago. So, but pretend that this is now a February 12th. Well, it is because it's not going to be posted until then. Exactly.
So today is February 12th, 2020. All right. Go buy our stuff. So today we're going to talk about afterlife experiences and near-death experiences.
We've done a little bit of following up on that and doing some research on that. We've watched some documentaries and some follow-up and this has been something that's kind of been interesting to me for a long, long time. Back in 1979, my grandfather gave to me a book that his father had actually written that's called, A glimpse into the Future by Thomas S. Thomas.
And it's about his near-death experience or actually his death experience and what he experienced. And in 1894, I believe it was, he was working as a farmer up in Vlad Idaho and he got sick and got chilled and went home and he literally died. It's a very interesting experience and he describes in this book the different stages of death that he went through and what he did. And he was actually dead long enough that they were, they actually had telegraphed parts of his family that were down in Salt Lake because he was in Vlad Idaho and he said, you know, he gives quite a description about how he perceived things while he was dead, that he could see things.
He could see the interactions that were happening. He described the horse of the rider that was taking the message to the telegraph office. And he said he could actually see the waves on the wires and the telegraphes as it was there being broadcast down to Salt Lake and the people getting them. So he was actually dead for quite a while before he returned.
But it's a very interesting book and that always kind of got me interested in near-death experiences and death experiences. It's kind of something that we've got in our family. Like I said, he actually published a book and it's about 160 pages. It's a smaller form factor, but it's pretty interesting and all of the different things that went in.
But as I've read through this and then as I've watched a number of documentaries and a number of different things, many of the things that he described in this book and again, it was published in 1924, relate to a lot of the things I've seen in documentaries about near-death experiences that have happened now and things that are going on. Some of the interesting things about the near-death experiences and you've seen it. You've seen it in movies like Ghost or there's a number of them where there will be a death experience sometime and you see the spirit moving away from the body and going up and being able to witness the scene that's going on, whether it's in a hospital room or something like that. And there's a disassociation of the body from what I'll call the spirit, the consciousness.
Right. And last night we watched several different YouTube clips of people and their experiences. And everyone's was a little different as far as the main, for lack of a better word, plot of their particular story. But there were some very dramatic similarities in every single person.
And one of them, I don't want to give them all out now. No, give them out. So one of them was almost everybody said that there was a disassociation from their body and they were looking down at their body, which leads you to believe that they're above their body, they're moving up. Almost everybody said that there was a very, very overwhelming, strong feeling of love that they felt.
Almost every single one of them said that there was a light. Almost every single one of them said that there was a family member, usually a couple. In one case it was a mom and dad, and in another case it was... Mother-in-law and father-in-law.
Mother-in-law because the mother-in-law had just recently died. There was always a family member or two that was there to help them. And I think another real strong thread that almost every one of them said was they were told to go back and tell people what they had seen. And like I said, there was one, and I don't know if we want to go here now yet or not, but there was one where it was a Stella, he was an atheist.
And whether or not you're an atheist where your beliefs are at, I'm not trying to change your mind, I'm just telling you the story, but he was an atheist and he passed away for a... He really didn't talk about why he passed away or how long. No, he'd actually taken... He drank some bad water.
Oh, that's right. It had been tainted in it. That's right because in this video they're making this video for YouTube and they're blocking out... They were like clouding out the actor.
It's like why are you calling out the actor of the movie that you made? Because I'm sure... I don't know. He actually met Christ and Christ spoke to him, but then he got a key and unlocked some door or some portal and this man went down to hell.
And his near death experience was mostly spent in hell. And he would see people in these... He described him as cubes and he said, I saw these people in these cubes reliving parts of their life and anguishing over parts of their life and just described in detail probably six, seven, eight different people. I think he said he saw a lot of notable people and the only one he named was Hitler, just the agony that they were all going through.
And he was like, it was terrifying. He was like, crap, I've gone to hell. But then after he was watching all of these for, it sounded like quite a long period of time, Christ came down and said, okay, you don't need to be here. Just go tell people.
And when he came back to life, he was like, I'm totally a believer now, I'm no longer atheist. But again, even though he didn't have some of the common threads of these other people did for whatever reason... He did have the feeling of joy and that, but then he had this other experience. But he was still told to go back and tell people, which I find is interesting.
I've heard that some people, when they have their near death experiences, they often have flashbacks of their life and their life is played over them. One lady that I was watching on YouTube mentioned that it was showing all the painful parts of her life as she went through this whole reenactment thing. But most people, they actually report that when they have the near death experience, that it's positive. It's all positive in nature.
And it actually helps them reduce their anxiety when it comes to dying. It gives them an affirmation of life. And overall, increases their well-being. Most people have their near death experiences.
They change forward the better. Right. Many of them said that. They said when we came back, they said one, we're not scared of death anymore.
That was an overall theme for most of all. I mean, a review that would go to hell kind of a little bit darker experiences. But it was overwhelmingly a positive experience. Yeah.
A lot of them said when we came back, we knew life differently. Different things were important that weren't important before. It really changed our outlook for the better. I think, pardon me, you're not dead.
But the other interesting thing is, again, a common thread throughout all of these near death experiences, or these after life experiences, were when they were having their experience, time wasn't a thing. And we say that all the time, you know, that ghosts don't recognize time and time doesn't work the same way in the paranormal as it does in real time for us. But they said that same thing in their experiences was, you know, time wasn't a thing, which I found interesting. Yeah.
A lot of interesting experiences. One that we saw, I think it happened in the late 1990s where there was a car accident, and the woman was with her husband and their son. And the son was in the back seat. He was younger, 10, 11, something like that.
It was a, and it was a horrific accident. And the husband was killed immediately. And she was hospitalized. And they didn't know the son was in there.
Somebody saw a tennis shoe in the back, and they had to pry the car apart to get to the son. And he was really touched and told the mom that, you know, just prepare because he's probably not going to make it. Yeah. And he was, he was really ripped up, but he's one of these that had that experience, the experience and visited, you know, he said, Jesus, he, he had that.
And his again, it was back to the, you know, go back and tell everybody. And they've kind of got a ministry based around that. And yeah, but he was, he was really messed up. And they had told, they had told the mother, you know, prepared to be prepared to have an eight year old baby the rest of her life.
But he came back and I mean, his face was, was he scores, you could tell that he'd had an accident. But he hadn't talked to them. That means seem normal in every way. You know, no brain damage.
They said when he woke up from his coma, he was awake and alert and no problems at all. Completely unexpected from the doctor's standpoint. They were expecting the worst. Right.
So you talk about like how people they had their near-death experiences where they see Christ. I guess another culture from what I understand it kind of varies where you're at in the world. And sometimes you're aged when you have these near-death experiences. Like for example, in India, people there have said they've seen the Hindu king of the dead, his name is Yamarash, if I'm reading that correctly.
But like I said, here in America, most people say they see Jesus. So I think kind of where you're located in your religious beliefs kind of helps determine who you see. And in my opinion, and how you interpret what you see. Exactly.
I think in my opinion, that's kind of like a subconscious type thing. It's just like, you're going to see a familiar face, someone that's kind of like comforting to you and kind of walk you through this experience or give you the information that you need. So if you see a complete stranger coming at you when you're having a near-death experience, you're probably going to be like, I'm going to piece out. So Raven, do you want to talk a little bit about that TED talk that we watched?
Yeah. So this was actually before we decided on this topic for the podcast. We just, you know, in the evenings we'll cruise around and see what kind of interesting drivel we can find on YouTube. And this one was a talk given by a doctor or a nurse.
He was a doctor. He was a doctor. And he was just kind of discussing things from the doctor's point of view and from the medical point of view of when you're working with people that are getting ready to pass. And he was discussing more, you know, people in old age, not so much.
Hospice kind of stuff. Hospice, not people with, you know, after life experiences that come back to life, but, you know, people that were old and actually on the, yeah, actually dying. And he says that there were several things that you see. And when he was early on, you know, when he was first working with these people and before he knew stuff, he had a patient say to him, you know, the patient seemed very coherent and said, you know, you know, my mother was here visiting me and he found that very odd.
He's like, yeah, he's here dying to me and how did your mom come to visit you. And he kind of mentioned this on hand to a nurse later that day. And she said, oh, yeah, she says that happens right before they pass. And he says, what do you mean?
And he says, oh, yeah, you know, right before these patients pass. They usually see a family member. They usually see, you know, some loved one that comes back to them. In very positive experiences.
Right. And she said, so, you know, she'll probably pass soon. And the doctor looked at her and he says, well, I don't remember that. And, you know, any medical classes in school.
And she seems quite healthy. She seems healthy. She seems coherent. And the nurse looks at him and says, well, there's a lot of stuff he missed in medical school.
And he laughs. You know, he was a funny exchange. One thing that they did do, and I read this a long time ago. This has been years and years ago.
I read this, but they actually did studies. And they would, you know, people that wanted their, you know, to help science. So they weren't just kidnapping random people that were on the verge of death. But these are people that were dying and wanted to help for their science.
And they would get them and they would weigh them. And literally, you know, hours before they died, you know, minutes before they died, they would weigh them and say how much they weighed. And then as, you know, like just moments after they passed, they would re-way them. And they discovered that spirits have mass and the mass.
I don't remember exactly how much it was. I'd have to look it up. Just, yeah, I was going to say a grammar too. You know, so there is weight and mass.
You know, I've had people, you know, to kind of tie this into paranormal. I've had people say, well, how can ghosts scratch you? How can, you know, how can they touch you? Ghosts do have mass.
You know, there is, is not very much mass. It's very refined. But if, you know, if they're intent on scratching you, they can focus their energy and, you know, what little mass they have to use to scratch you. But in these TED talks and in these YouTube videos, you just get the same thread over and over again.
And I know Don's dad passed two years ago now. Two years ago this summer. And shortly before he passed you a couple months before he passed, he would tell us that he told us once that a gentleman had come to visit him. And basically said, you know, you're ready to go.
And Don's dad said, now I want to watch a couple more jazz games first. And, which, you know, is another common thread. The lady who's son was in the accident. No.
No, this is a, because she didn't have a near death experience. One of the ladies in this shows that we watched last night, she died in childbirth. Some complications in childbirth. And when she went, she was given the option whether she wanted to go or not.
You know, some people it was not your time, you need to go back. But she was given the option. You know, they said if you want to stay, you can stay. But if you want to go back, you know, you need to get your back pretty quick.
And I just thought it was funny with your dad, you know, I'd like to stay and watch, you know, a couple more BYU games and a jazz game. But he had mentioned a couple things just a few months before he died of people coming to see him. And I remember thinking, oh, he's starting to see people that he knows it's going to be pretty quick. Yeah, and then it happened when it happened pretty quickly that last week or so.
Yeah. I mean, he was pretty coherent. I mean, on his birthday in November, we were playing poker with him. And he was winning.
And you know, less than a month later, he had passed. He had told us several times about people coming to visit him. You know, I think I remember him saying his mother came to visit. I think he saw his mother a couple times.
I think he told you more than he told me. Well, he also gave me chocolate too. I know he was your, you were his favorite. Yeah.
So give him a story. That's a good story though. Okay. So has nothing to do with afterlife experiences.
But we went to go visit one day. We all had a day that we went to visit and we were assigned Wednesdays. And it was a Wednesday. And Don was out changing some light bulbs for him because he had some fluorescent bulbs in the kitchen that were acting up.
And I was just hanging with that in the bedroom. And he said, go over to that cabin. Because second door down there's a box of chocolates in there. And grab a couple of those.
But don't tell Don. He says, Don can have this stuff on top. So. Because those were the good ones.
I know. You're the good ones. That's funny. So he was kind of a career that way.
When you talked about that a little bit on, you know, the people are given the choice. One of the things that my great grandfather said in the glimpse of the future book is that it's always the choice of the person. And he said that they'll come to the realization depending upon either how badly the body's damaged or, you know, the state that you're in, that there comes a point where it makes sense. But his statement in this book is, it's always the choice of the individual on when they actually make that pass.
And they said it could be traumatic, it could be able it could be, you know, hit by a train or whatever. But there's always that choice by the person on what they can do. And sometimes it's just inevitable. If your head gets decapitated, you're probably out.
Yeah. You don't. I mean, yeah. But he said there is a choice there.
And that's actually the maybe part of the reason that there are ghosts around is because the body can't continue to function, but they're not leaving. They're not ready to go. They're ready to go. They're ready to go.
Brandi's grandma, Annie, that we've talked about on the show on the past episodes, she died in a fire. And she never crossed over because there's still stuff that's here on Earth that she needs to do. Well, and you know, it's interesting, and this might be taking a little bit of a tangent, and I apologize if it does. But just the link between, you know, we've got spirits coming and interacting with the elderly that are about ready to pass.
And then there's a lot of things that come from them. Is that to make it seem less scary? Is it because the veil is thin? You know, however you want to interpret that.
But I don't think that you even have to be near death to have the spirits come interact with you. It was about eight years ago when I was trying to decide to get divorced and a little background on me. That might be TMI, but too bad. I've actually been divorced twice.
And I did the leaving both times because I had had enough. And when it came to my second divorce, I remember thinking, wow, you know, one divorce wasn't really where I thought I would go. And now I'm contemplating it a second time. And I was really struggling with it.
You know, because to me it was, you know, you've failed. I don't do failure well. I'll just let you know that. And so, you know, and then there's some religious aspects.
I mean, there's a lot going on. And I just remember really, really being at kind of a dark place in my life, trying to decide, you know, is this something I should do? And I had a dream one night. And in my dream, my great aunt came to me.
And we've talked about my great aunt on this podcast before, Krista. And she felt her energy a couple times. She's awesome. Really good energy.
But she came to me in this dream. And in the dream, I'm in her basement. And the way she appeared to me was exactly how I remember her. You know, I dream about her often.
And usually, you know, how dreams are just weird, you know, dancing tulips and plates of spaghetti and stuff. And so a lot of times my dreams are her. And she's like zombie Krista, which sounds very disrespectful. And it's not meant to be, but dreams of dream.
And usually I'm at her house. And the weird things are going on. And she's like zombie in the bed. And, but the lie.
You know, but this one, she was just how I remember her. I don't want to get too deep into it. But the clothing that she was wearing was very distinctive to me. And made me take pause and say, you know, this is the real deal.
And, you know, dreams are dreams. And so there's a little bit of weirdness. And she and I communicated. But it wasn't, I mean, it was more like mental telepathy.
And I remember saying, oh, you know, Krista, and she said, so I'm in her basement. And this is, the whole dream was kind of sepia, but she was very much in like normal color. And she was on that, there's a door between us. And the door was only open, you know, maybe a quarter of the way.
And so I could see her. And I went, you know, to go to her, but she kind of motioned that, you know, you know, stay where you're at. And she meant telepathy to me. You know, there's things I would like to tell you, but you're in a dark place.
And that was the end of the dream I woke up and I thought, you know, after a lot of kind of soul searching and, yeah, I did a little bit of research on what dreams mean. What does that mean? Because dreams are always creepy. Quite a dream.
I have to be creepy. I can't like to say this is what you need to do. But I kind of figured what she was trying to tell me was I was in a dark place. I needed to get out.
And in my case, it meant getting a divorce. So, and it was the right choice. You know, eight years later, I looked back and it was the right thing for me to do. My dad became a divorce.
It might not be the right thing for everything. But where I was and what was going on, it was the right thing at that time. You know, she told me this is the right thing to do. So the whole point of this is just, you know, the veil between our world, what we know is mortals and the spirit world, whether it be a dream, whether it's people on the verge of death.
They've come to the end of their life or whether it's children that are very close to the veil. You know, whether it's one of these afterlife experiences, you know, a medical thing where you're dead for a while and then you come back. Mediums. Mediums to me.
And this is just my opinion. But to me, there's too many similarities. There's too many occurrences to make me doubt in afterlife. You know, people could argue with me and that's why you've got your prerogative.
But to me, it just is just too clear cut. It's just there. I believe in afterlife and I actually believe in past lives as well, which we'll talk on another episode of the show. But if it's all right, I'd like to talk about some of the possible theories as to why we have near-death experiences.
Absolutely, because I kind of took this out in the weeds. No, that's fine. So there's a couple of neuroscientists that actually have proposed that there are two types of near-death experiences. The names of these scientists are actually Olaf, Blank, and Sebastian De Gueez, I believe.
I'm not sure if I'm saying that right. But they say that the two types of near-death experiences, one is associated with the left hemisphere of your brain and the other is with the right hemisphere. Now, the left hemisphere, some of the associations there, features an altered sense of time and impressions of flying. On the other side, on the right hemisphere, there's characteristics of seeing or communicating with spirits and hearing voices, sounds and music.
It's not very clear why there are different types of near-death experiences, but the different interactions between the brain regions produce these distinct experiences. The temporal lobes, they also play a very important role in near-death experiences. This is the area of your brain that's involved with processing sensory information and memory. So abnormal activity in these lobes can actually produce strains, sensations, and perceptions.
I know there's talk out there, people that actually have their near-death experiences swear by them that they actually happened. There is people out there that think that those people are crazy and they're just experiencing hallucinations. Or brain death, the processes of brain death and that's... What the lack of oxygen in a knot?
Part of a near-death experience is like, you literally die, you go on a cardiac arrest, the brain shuts off, your body starts shutting down. One of the... I hate to interrupt you, but I wanted to get this in here before we moved on. One of the YouTube videos we watched was a couple of doctors, and they said that at the times when these people were having these experiences, they physically should not have been having them.
They have recollections that their consciousness existed beyond brain death. Right, and they said, we put them under, we willed them into the operating room, but these people that had these experiences were explaining the operating room. And describing what was happening to them. And they said there's no physical way they could have known that, because they were asleep before they came in the operating room.
We would have, out of the operating room, into the recovery room, they were still asleep and they said it just freaks us out, because there's no way they could... They'll describe the room in detail of what was where and who was where and it freaks them out. And even describing conversations of family members blocks away. So, this is just a fascinating subject.
Subject. I struggle with words too sometimes. They smell funny. Now, there are several different theories that people used to explain why near-death experiences happen, but there's really no way to determine exactly what causes them.
It's extremely difficult. I mean, scientists are still looking into it today. A lot of religious people believe that near-death experiences actually provide evidence of the afterlife. I think through paranormal investigating, we can't exactly prove that there's evidence of the afterlife, but if we didn't believe in evidence of the afterlife, we wouldn't be paranormal investigators.
We would have to show it. I feel like some of the EVPs we get are pretty good evidences as well. Something's going on, yeah. Some of the photos that we've got can we prove it's paranormal?
Not exactly, but... It's not trying. It's pretty damn close to being... There's something there.
Really good evidence that this stuff exists, that the afterlife exists. Now, science will actually say that near-death experience, basically it's just the separation of the spirit from the body. That's part of the religious part. They experience in the depersonalization, I guess, where basically what that is, is a sense of being detached from your body.
Scientists actually suggest that the stress of death produces a remembrance of birth, suggesting that the tunnel of light that you see is actually a re-imaging of the birth canal. Oh, lovely. I don't know what your image is. I have severe claustrophobia.
That's not fun. No, we went to make it a couple of years ago. If you go down there, there's a couple of tunnels. If you go up to the actual cliff dwellings.
Seriously, before I let down by the tickets, I'm like, hang on, I've got to see if I can make it through this little tunnel because they have a little metal box. A little metal box? If you can go through that and not have a little come apart, then you'll be fine. I'm like, wait, wait.
Do not like tickets. Let me make sure I'm not going to have a connection fit. That's creepy, actually. Other theories that people have come up with, as some researchers claim that when you have these near-death experiences, it's just endorphins being released during stressful events, and that may actually produce something like near-death experience.
Particularly by reducing pain and increasing pleasant sensations. Also, they say that anesthetics can also stimulate near-death experiences and other characteristics of that, such as the out-of-body experiences. Other theories suggest that near-death experiences come from something called DMT, which is a psychedelic drug that actually occurs naturally in some plants. I know there was a whole documentary on this that one of our investigators told me about, and it's just crazy, like the things that people see your experience when they're using this drug.
Someone did a study, actually, his name is Rick Starsman. He's a professor of psychiatry. He actually observed between 1990 and 1995 that people that had near-death and mystical experiences following the injection of DMT. According to him, the body has a natural DMT release at birth and at death.
However, there is no conclusive evidence to support this view. Overall, chemical-based theories lack precision and can't actually explain the full range of near-death experiences that people experience. Researchers have also experienced near-death experiences via cerebral enoxia, or which we mentioned earlier, lack of oxygen to the brain. They've actually found air pilots experience unconsciousness during rapid acceleration describe near-death experience like features, such as television.
A lack of oxygen may also trigger temporal lobe seizures, which cause a solutionation that may be similar to a near-death experience. The widespread explanation for near-death experiences is the dying brain hypothesis. This theory proposes that near-death experiences are hallucinations caused by activity in the brain as the cells begin to die. As these occur during times of crisis, this will explain that the stories survivors recount.
The problem with this theory, even though it's very plausible, is that it fails to explain the full range of features that may occur during near-death experiences such as why people have the out-of-body experience. Right now, there actually is no definitive explanation for why these near-death experiences happen. There is ongoing research that strives to understand this phenomenon. Whether paranormal or not near-death experiences are extremely important, they provide meaning, hope and purpose for many people.
I know that there's one study that a lot of the documentaries that we watched and listened to, there's a program called AWARE, where they're actually looking into whether these near-death experiences are happening or if it's just things that people are remembering. One of the things I heard that they're doing is that when someone is on the operating table and they're monitoring them, they'll put them under. This person is technically dead on the table. They have a number that's lit up in the corner that you can't actually see from the bed.
The theory is that if that person, when they come back to, if they're able to tell you what that number was, that it will be a way to prove that these out-of-body experiences are actually happening. I'm not sure exactly all the research that they've done so far, I just know that they're currently researching and trying to figure out more about why people are having these experiences and if they're actually having out-about experiences or if they're just hallucinations or whatever the cause for these experiences are. We saw an interesting one and it was a guy that had had a heart attack and he was actually pronounced dead for 45 minutes. Remember that one?
The truck driver. He was on a radio show with radio host and they were talking about it a little bit. It was really interesting because of the length of time they talked about the ambulance there and they finally gave up on him. They'd been 45 minutes since he had coded.
Did they say that only 5% of people that go without oxygen into the brain for that long survive? Yeah, but he'd coded. They were boxing stuff up and he was off the machines and all of a sudden the heartbeat came back on. He took a deep breath.
That was the one with the mother-in-law that said, go back. It was very interesting but that's a very long time in that kind of situation. I think in this book it was a long time with my great grandfather that he was dead for a long time. I find those stories interesting because you get the ones of, oh, the heart stopped and we got the paddles and we zapped him and he'd been flat-lined for a couple of minutes or a minute or two.
You get those a little bit but on the longer-duration ones where there's a story and people come back. This guy after 45 minutes you think he's going to be a vegetable or whatever but he was alert and talkative and you want to rate your interview? I think he had to wear a special vest that monitored his heartbeat for a month which told me because I was thinking all this happened a long time ago but he was still wearing it so it had to have been fairly recent. Are there actual after-death experiences or is it just a phenomenon of your brain?
I don't know. Just with my belief system and where I'm at I think there are actual experiences. But other people might think differently and that's fine. We all have our own belief system.
But watching these people, even the guy that experienced hell for most of his after-life experience, every single one of them came back changed for the positive. Came back a better person and wanting to do better and be better. So whether they're real, whether it's just a physical manifestation of chemicals, doing whatever it does, I think if you come back from anything a better person, then it can't be a bad thing. I agree.
I don't recommend that you go on an attempt to have a near-death experience so you can become a better person. And still be alive. If you wanted to see what it's kind of like, I know there's a movie that was made in the 90s and we made a couple years ago called Flatliners where they were medical students I believe and they were purposely killing themselves so they could have these near-death experiences and have those profound meanings and not to get too much into that movie but things did not go the way that they wanted them to go. I don't think I'll gamble with that.
I would never recommend to anybody that you purposely go out and try to give yourself a near-death experience. No, we just go reach that highly. I would recommend doing something called the Quantum Hypnosis Healing Technique or QHHT for short. I've actually experienced that myself and it's like a very deep meditative state where you can actually get information from your higher self or your subconscious self and you can actually learn some of the stuff that it's not quite like a near-death experience but it is a very interesting experience.
I learned a lot about myself going through this and got a lot of good messages from my higher self or my subconscious self. So if that's something you're looking for, I would suggest doing that instead. Here in Utah, I don't know if she still does it but I did mine with a lady named Kathy Lafitte and I can look into it and see if she's still practicing and get that information if anybody wants it. That's the route I would go if you're looking to find meaning or purpose in your life on a more deep personal level.
I know there's like meetings and stuff like that but they don't compare to this healing technique. It is a little bit on the pricey side. I know Kathy charges about $222 but it's something that you only really need to experience once. So she does give you a recording of it as well.
That's cool. It's something that if you have a couple hundred bucks you're willing to drop, it's something I definitely will recommend doing. My whole session I want to say was about eight hours. It was kind of a whole day thing.
Make sure you've got the time to do it and you've got questions that you want answered. It's probably the closest thing I've come to experiencing something like a near-death experience without actually getting near-death. I do know that during my research I did find out that there is a support group out there. It's called the International Association for Near-Death Studies.
There's actually apparently chapters of this all over the world where people get together. I think you can also go online. There's a website that you can go to. People actually get together and they discuss their new-death experiences and they kind of talk about their questions that they have about death and dying.
They also go over the latest research and information that there is about near-death experiences. That's kind of cool. If you've had a near-death experience and you want someone to talk to about it, you can look out to one of these organizations. Or if you have one that you want us to talk about on the show, you can always email us.
You can hit us up on the Facebook, either at Vaspurn or Wisp's Facebook pages. Or we have a new email that I've recently created. I believe it is appsaps.wisp.contact.gmail.com. Did you like the nice short email addresses?
Yes, sir. It was just kind of a temporary one if we needed to create a different one we can. I kind of like it. I just kind of made that so people have a way to get a hold of us.
And it wasn't already used? No, it wasn't. Wow. It was funny.
I tried doing Tim.apps for my personal one and that was used. So I ended up going to Tim.wisp's at Gmail. If you have any questions or experiences that you want us to share on the show, we'd be more than happy to hear them. Or even if you don't want them to show, you just want to share them with us.
You can go to the Facebook page, you can email them to us privately. We'd be happy to hear about it. We'd love to hear your stuff. Any of the stories that you have?
Absolutely. It's kind of fun to share the stories that we have. It's interesting to hear what other people are going through. One last thing that I have was Tim was talking about.
The support group reminded me they gave some stats on how many people had these near-death experiences. If you had asked me before I saw this, I would have guessed it was very small. I don't remember what the percentage was, but it equaled out to be about 10 million Americans. They didn't go over the whole world, but they said based on this percentage, it would be equal to about 10 million Americans.
Did I say 10 million? No, you said 10 million Americans. That's quite a big chunk. We're getting pretty close to the end of the episode.
I think we'll cut it there as far as near-death experiences go. I do have the stone that this week I'll be talking about is called Moldivite. This is an awesomely powerful stone. I have one.
The clothing about this stone, one of my experiences as well, I was doing the healing technique thing. One of the questions that was asked of me was does the size of the crystal matter when it comes to how much energy has it? Oh, does size matter? You knew we were going to go there.
That size matter. No, it doesn't actually. The funny thing was, I remember holding crystals in my hand and Moldivite being one of them. When they asked me this question, I don't know how I did this, but I literally opened my hand and dropped all the stones and caught just the moldivite in my hand.
That was the only thing I had in my hand. Without seeing what stones I had or just being able to go off a fill while I was on hypnosis. I handed it to the lady, to Kathy, that was doing a session with me. I said, see how small this stone is and fill the energy that's coming off of that stone.
You can hear in the recording just going, oh my gosh, that is a powerful stone. I felt because of the near-death experiences and that one experience I had that I talked about Moldivite. This is a dark green crystal in color. It's a parent.
It's usually transparent. It's folded mass and it's often glassy. It is rare but also ready to be available. The price of it goes up because this stone actually comes out of a meteorite that was found in the Czech Republic.
There's also part of it in Germany and Moldova. But usually with this stone, sometimes you see some temple stones and whatnot that would be priced at $2.00, $2.00, $10.00, $1.00. Moldivite is actually a stone that is sold based on its weight. The bigger the stone you buy, the more expensive it's going to be.
Size does matter. Size does matter. It doesn't need to be large to be powerful. But keep in mind the bigger you go, the more expensive it's going to be.
Mine's actually really quite small about the size of the pea. I think mine was $20 or $25.00. Yeah, same here. Mine was about the same size, about the same price.
The one I got for a peach is a little bit bigger and hers is like $35. They're not very big at all. This is one that I'll definitely try to get a picture of on them. Don't call your...
I mean mine was $2.00. It was $20.00. Yeah, well, what's that? It's done and said now.
So some of the attributes of Moldivite is that it's another of the stones for the new age. It is a form of techite, which is said to have extraterrestrial origin formed when a giant meteorite struck the earth, like I said. The heat of the impact metamorphosed surrounding rocks creating a true field by flinging the result in crystal over a vast area. Now Moldivite is therefore a fusion of extraterrestrial energies with Mother Earth.
This is a rare stone, like I said, and it is now found along the banks of the rivers of Moldow and is unlikely to be discovered anywhere else in the world. This crystal will eventually become extinct at some point in time. Moldivite has been used since the Stone Age times and has a talisman and an amulet for good fortune and fertility. Many people believe that it came to aid Earth's transition and healing and that the time has come to use Moldivites energies wisely.
That can greatly enhance the effect of other crystals, taking them to their highest vibration. Moldivite brings you into communication with the higher self and with extraterrestrials. Moldivite has its own cosmic oversole, which can put you in touch with the ascended masters and cosmic messengers. Holding the stone up to the light and gazing into it shifts you...
your consciousness. This stone takes you into the highest spiritual dimension and the faculties that facilitates the ascension process. It needs to be grounded or else it can leave you spaced out and rootless. Holding a pair of Boji stones, it gently grounds after spiritual experiences with Moldivite and the energies of Clear Quartz stabilize its effects.
Moldivite has an extremely high vibration, which opens clear blockages from and aligns the chakras. It integrates the divine blueprint and accelerates spiritual growth, and also resonates with the crown chakra, opening it to receive the highest spiritual guidance. A place on the throat, Moldivite communicates interplanetary messages, especially with regard to the state of the ecology of the earth and its need for healing. There is a lot more information on Moldivite and we'd be here for another 10 minutes if I just read it and you'd probably be bored.
Moldivite, very strong stone that does help you connect with your higher self and does have an extremely high vibration. It is not for everyone. If you're very prone to the vibrations of crystals, like if you fill it very strongly in some of the crystals like Amethyst or Quartz or whatnot, you're going to want to eat yourself into Moldivite because it is probably the most vibrational stone that I've come in contact with. It wigs me on just a touch.
The energy, like I said, it's literally not for everybody. So is it different than the meteor glass? The meteor glass? I'm not.
The meteor glass now. But this comes from a particular meteor that crashed out of the engine. General Dova. That's the name.
As I'm thinking the meteor glass, it was in that region where that was done and I've seen it's been a while back, but a documentary about the meteor glass and stuff and how it was made and some of the kings back in the 13th or 14th centuries had bowls and plates made out of it. It's possible. I mean, this does look like glass. Yeah, that's why I was wondering if that was...
It's green in color, so if meteor glass is green, it could be the same thing. It's a very beautiful stone. It looks good in jewelry. I know some of the shops have it set in necklaces and rings and stuff, but it's definitely not something that you want to have around you all the time.
Me personally, I only use it when I meditate because the vibration of the stone is very strong. Interesting. Now I think we have some weird news. I don't know what it is.
But first. I liked the word to drag old because that's been... On your mark? That was an word and now everyone's making fun of me.
But it is. I think anyone made fun of you. I'm just retarded. Well, no, but I was.
It means dirty and disheveled. And it's origin is from the early 18th century, meaning be thoroughly drag old. So drag old must mean something. Mean drag through the mud, right?
No. And that's your vocabulary lesson? That's a good segment that we're probably not going to do ever again. Someone found that interesting.
I like the crap out of that. Please, someone find that interesting. Send us a thumbs up. No, for real.
So the funny thing about trying to find wacky paranormal news is that you have to dig real deep to find it. So this one, I find interesting. It's a fellow named J.W. Ocker, or O.C.K.E.R.
And he has... I don't even know if you'd call it a business, but he has a thing called Otis. And it's odd things I've seen. He's got a travel blog.
He's got some books. And he doesn't necessarily... He himself says that he doesn't believe in the paranormal. He doesn't believe in ghosts.
He has spent the night. He has spent the night in Hanover, the Sylems, and at the Lizzie Bordenhouse. And claims do not have had any sort of experience whatsoever. But he does...
And he said, what kind of started this? He lives in New Hampshire, I believe. Yes, New Hampshire. And he says, just to go to the grocery store, I passed by three really old historical graveyards that are just there.
And he says, you don't even think about them, because they're just there. And so he kind of just wanted to bring awareness of some of these things to people. And he started it in 2007 as a hobby. And I guess if you go and read his blog, it's quite humorous.
He's an introvert. So he really, and I'm an introvert, so I get this. He really likes some eccentric things and eccentric sites. He kind of calls them the oddities.
Back by playing Ghost Under Let's See. Yeah, that would be neat. So you know, he just goes through all these different places. Says plans are in the works to redevelop, you know, complex.
I don't know what complex it is. There's an old institution, and he's going to get it put on the National Registry of Historic Places. So you know, he's into preservation. You know, he talks about a lot of old cemeteries and hospitals.
But the thing that really kind of caught my eye about this, let me scroll down to it so that I can tell you about it. He has a, he's run across, where did it go? It's a Rocky Horse graveyard. And he's like, I don't know how this started.
I don't know who started it. But he says, if you follow this graveyard and you go past it, they don't know who does it. You know, if it's one person or if it's, you know, just something that people do, but they will go to this graveyard. And new Rocky Horses will appear.
You know, it started out fairly small, but, you know, every once in a while, a new one will appear. And they said that people will go out there and move them. You know, so they might be in, you know, in pairs or in a circle or sometimes they're lined up to where it looks like they're in a battle. And they says, if you go and look at this at night, he says it's one of the creepiest sites on the planet, which I think I could tell they believe.
So I thought that was kind of fun. And now I really want to go see Rocky Horse graveyard. Interesting. Rocky Horse graveyard.
Yes. That's a new one. That's, now that's weird wild stuff. I said there's poison ivy that can make it interesting.
Let's go frolic in the Rocky Horse graveyard and get some poison ivy. Alright, guess we'll call that an episode. Everybody thinks we're tuning in. Peace out butterflies.
See ya. Have a good one. You've been listening to the SupernaturalHour at advancedmarinormal.com, the SupernaturalHour is part of the Radio Ronan Network found at Radio Ronan.com.
