Nebraska’s older voters want expanded access to high-speed Internet, especially in rural areas

from North American Network

Nebraska-voters who are 50 or older overwhelmingly want elected-officials to ensure that high-speed Internet is available to all residents—throughout the state. This includes most of them supporting the development of partnerships—plus incentives for providers to expand high-speed Internet to unserved, rural areas. That’s according to a new survey from “A-A-R-P Nebraska”; Todd Stubbendieck [“stew-bin-deck”] is the group’s state-director… “Reliable and affordable high-speed Internet is more important than ever—but still isn’t uniform throughout Nebraska. High-speed Internet offers access to resources that can improve quality-of-life, for people of all ages—and can help older adults live independently. It specifically can reduce the risk of social isolation; provide access to services like telehealth; promote online learning; and help local businesses grow beyond their area. Many voters in our survey report more Internet-use now, at home—compared with before the pandemic. However, some of them—especially in rural areas—also report that access is a problem in their community—and that quality, cost, and/or availability have limited their use.” To learn more, visit “a-a-r-p”-dot-org-slash-“n-e”.
