Okay, so we were in the at the beginning of the episode We were in the middle of an apartment where schoolwork was being harassed by a rude robot And then a sniper shot through the windows and a couple people got hit Bownstar chased after the sniper while the rest of the team stayed in the apartment protecting schoolwork There were a bunch of billiards themed enemies. Is that right? Yeah, I Corrically called down the the cue ball gang. I call them pullbacks the pullbacks.
Yeah Both star himself got his ass whooped by the cue ball king. I don't know what their formal name is but Therian, okay. Yeah, so that was good. All right So after that it goes all blank because most are got KO'd and the rest of the team is off working with the workforce Now did you manage to get all the robots secured?
I believe they did with the help of two of the workforce I know they did eventually stumble upon Bownstar with being KO'd I don't I don't quite remember what happened once we went to the workforce base other than us just generally talking to guys and making plans So you guys did go eventually back to the workforce base They sort of rescued you from some sort of stasis that press by Terry puts you under as you guys went back to the workforce Wonderworks sort of showed off the sort of collaboration between the nebulous knights and the workforce itself that he showed off sort of Akita and morgue But Sean sort of like slinked into the background so you guys finally went back to workforce You got in sort of a meeting with trellis work and lattice work two of the sort of head representatives of workforce Lattice work bone star you have worked specifically with yeah, and I remember having quite a quite a like hey back in the old days kind of conversation with him Oh, yeah, he's an old drinking buddy. He's an old like he's an old bounty hunter He's pretty good at smooth talking people and knowing who to get in contact with I think I mentioned He's sort of like this space's version of Greg A little bit easier like actually outwardly skisier so you guys got done talking to them trellis work took Akita back to check on school work school work is fine and Akita and chose work had this little secret conversation about maybe spying on the nebulous knights while trying to get after the press back Darien sort of trying to do for school work while lattice work has told the rest of the group Sean bone star and morgue that Some information about their teleportation technology and maybe finding the gods in that vein He's told you about a sort of legendary sort of like way way way like I don't want to say millennia but like 600 700 years ago. There was a engineer who sort of was a brilliant adventure and he made something called the divine lens Which is something that could possibly help you find where the other gods are He also gave you like a few locations to maybe check out Maybe he's like the whole point is like you guys are looking up gods. Just go to a fucking library Yeah, I think that was one of them and I think there was another one where I think we were trying to track down the The lens itself I think we'll eat on it was something where we had to kind of like split off in order to do it All I remember is that I agreed to hang out in the base with the workforce and send all my nerds out to work Yep, they have a lot of scientists here at the workforce So they will probably collaborate with you guys, but that's sort of where we left it last Um, however, there was one last piece that mirage got to mirage after their sort of little Let's just say venture woke up on the carcass and you know I do you want to explain to them what happened at the very last part?
Sure, but I'm gonna sound a lot like Cody while I explain it because I know Eli kind of forgot. It's been a stressful month. Oh, okay You have been moving. I'm sorry You the last thing that you remember is that you woke up you went up to the carcass There was a blinking light and you sort of hit a button and there was sort of an emergency alert from the middle of the HQ where The high commander has put out an alert to all them be so nights that there is a rogue agent Yes, and then I got my coat put it on because this is the most important part got my coat put it on and Gone the constable star and said we have a job.
Yes, right cut and all after all that nonsense I think maybe you guys contact each other get together and I think we're just gonna skip forward until you get to the work You get at the workforce You guys are there they've gotten you rooms to like, you know, sleep and stay there unless you guys want to stay in the carcass But they guys they pretty much have set you up set you up any rooms you would want Akita You also you already have your own room. Yeah, they have set you up here network this perotian female She's sort of like assigns you to all of your rooms She's almost like a drive-through clerk She is sort of like showing you around and then she'll put her finger up and she'll like hit the side of her face And she'll be like talking so vocally for a second and then she'll like continue on They have a lot of facilities here, but one of the things is network says there's a there'll be someone to there We some to help you out a little bit further on yes, no call up no fill out the form 581 Sorry about that There'll be someone to meet you soon if you guys just wanted to relax I see some of you have injuries. So you had an over to like the medical with the workforce It's sort of like right adjacent to the science science wing. So you see like some of the Some like the modern nerdier workforce sort of like milling about yeah, but you do see like you pass schoolwork So and schoolwork is in there and they sort of like like they're like resetting the reading a book as you walk by But you do find someone there to help you out with your bullet wound They sort of have you in needlework kind of like looks into the room very slowly for a second And the person that's working on you just sort of like points in like points away But then after a while they sort of like dig out the bullet wound They know me up and they wrap you up and you have like this really cool scar now cool Yeah, all right, so do anything to my consequence or no no you're still sort of like it still aches a little bit Yeah, but almost as it almost seems like you need a like some some like official downtime or something like some relaxation To get rid of these consequences. Well, I shouldn't go and lift weights then And I think if he's told he needs the rest then he'll probably just head over to wherever he left bone star in them If they're still there and then told me he's headed to bed speaking of which what's a bone star?

We're doing some work with a mercenary force So we're trying to find some artifact that'll help us track down the rest of the gods and maybe find a way to earth Which is where these god killing bastards came from in the first place.

Um, you're sort of using like the workforces Uh network they're sort of like a connection to it But looking at the press by tarian you find that they are with a group called illumination You sort of already already knew that but it seems like they work with a a Colocate of other people and they there's like a bunch of like Different robots that they work for look work with there seems to be like a whole number of them And each of them sort of has their own special skill press by tarian seems to have this ability for I don't want to say they were built for it But they were built for like long-range capture and support their sort of this hunter Uh, they work specifically for the lunation, but they are also figureheads for each of their different sex for the lunation Uh, they sort of get people in and they start like trying to Uh, talk to these organics and trying to get organics to Exchange body parts trying to like replace their limbs with mechanical body parts It seems like for the most part you understand that they are all for hire. They're all just regular Bounties. They're all it's like a group of mercenaries kind of Uh, if you look more up about lunation itself, it is about the sort of Reestablishment of organics in the in the sector.
It's about turning organic life into the hot the next tier They're turning people into cyborgs pretty much sure They're very pro robots. Is there like a no location for like Like where they meet up or is it just like they just get calls and head out? Most of it is just calls, but like the lunation headquarters is located on one of the uh confederate colonies. You've seen him sort of going about you know how to get in contact with him They have sort of this little like local communication there on the workforce HQ You could just basically pick up a phone and dial whoever you need. There's like a whole directory and uh There's needle work that you've heard about groundwork before there's also lattice work you met and sort of talked with also Let's see here.
Who else do you guys know you guys know wonder work? You know trellis work who was sort of the guard that was cleaning up things afterwards Uh, I don't believe you met network or subnet work you met school work who is currently in sort of the hospital sort of recovery room right now But uh, what is what is morgue's game plan? So my rationale for morgue staying behind is he's probably still extremely full from the uh, The garbage plate that he had eaten earlier Because it was a lot of food and calories. So he's he's still uh, good to go on that front So uh, you mentioned school work more probably would check in with school work just to see how they're doing because that's the kind of person he is But okay, but he'd want to set like probably chat with groundwork a bit to find out more Like stuff about the gods like see what the uh workforce knows about them and kind of compare and contrast with what he had Heard from nebulis nights HQ So he can try to get a better idea of are these just aliens with superpowers or are is it like a divinity?
Like are they actually fueled by thoughts and devotion? Like what the hell's going on with this? Because more don't know so he's going to try to fill in some of those gaps in his knowledge Okay, so what do you think he would sort of pick up first? Please give your name number, you know contact information, etc, etc And i'll get with you back with you as soon as possible And it's almost immediately after you sort of like hang up the commission hang up the comms after that that you get a response right away Groundwork is responding to you saying that okay, well, we can meet at this time I don't know exactly who you are but according to my emails like she apparently has crossed like checked you through some emails and like some Like a hard and an at search for you And she basically spits it all back out at you like almost immediately Um, but you do have like sort of this meeting time set set with her in like about like a few a few cycles, you know An arbitrary amount of time that will probably be associated with hours. Okay, okay cycles as in hours and not cycles as in oh, yeah I like I like using cycles for everything because then it just makes it really nebulous as to how much time As to when it's night.
Uh, we said the thing very good at this but after that you sort of Locate the infirmary wing and you do find schoolwork they seem to be okay to have visitors and uh, this promotion is sort of laying down in bed She sort of is she seems a little winded after all that has happened But uh whenever she sees you she sort of recognizes you and sort of waves you in uh, hey I'm not sure if we were actually formally introduced but I'm more I'm one of the people that works with the nights and uh Sounds like I might be working with Akita and a bit like in the future for a bit Just wanted to check in on yeah and see how you're doing she looks up at you and she sort of says oh, yeah The one of the nights of course of course, uh what I work has already been in here and sort of She looks around sort of like not suspiciously sort of like looking around if anyone's like there She sort of leans in closely. It seems like a pretty decent conversation Uh, I think the two of you just sort of chatted up a little bit She talks about a key to a little bit about how he's great with kids about how she he's always there for her You do get with your sort of with your plus one here Uh, that she's definitely really worried about key to and sort of his situation that he's going through Most of his race doesn't really leave the home planet or at least the colony planets that they're around She mentions that they're not a lot of bikin actually outside of where they're supposed to be located So having a key to cure is sort of a strange event.
Mm. So uh work will go Yeah, I I can sympathize with that uh, not many gtans get off from the home system and the ones that do usually get confused with uh, Some other species that are tend to be a lot more angrier and more uh, less prog rock more mosh pit If you get my meaning she takes those weird sort of like glance to the side I think I understand you more Well more heavy metal or more more relaxed scar And the other ones are more like heavy metal in a way. Yeah, I think I think I understand She sort of shakes her head a little bit while you're sort of having this little conversation the tv in the room that she's had It's just on really low ever since you came in she's turned the volume down real low, but you notice You notice that there seems to be So like something like piques your interest because you hear the very very familiar word of gampel man And you take a glance at the tv for a second And uh, you notice on the screen that there is an update on the going situation about gampel man fighting the Fighting these sort of multi-armed creatures that didn't seem like vaguarians on the vaguarino world It seems that gampel man has sort of stopped that Has defeated the the opponents that he had apparently would retrieve something and is now sort of flying away There are sort of a few experts quote-unquote And you see them sort of like talking with one another about what maybe he retrieved and they're talking specifically that this might have been a vaguarian artifact Like an a vaguarian like long ago sort of the vaguarians used to have like tribes They think it's some sort of like a vaguarian tribal symbol that maybe Gampel man is bringing back to gampel trapez maybe for someone that he works for maybe as a favor too Maybe that's who why that they were fighting these strange four-armed creatures that looked like the gorian, but maybe weren't They sort of like now, you know now back to the other studio and it sort of brings up another Interesting new story about the old cyber courier system about how now the the arctomains have sort of taken into custody and started to sort of disseminate some of the more public-facing information on it. Hmm And it's at this point schoolwork sort of like looks up at it and she's sort of like recognizing a few things She's kind of smiles.
She goes it's always glad I'm always glad to hear about some of the old tech Being found it's always interesting what you can find in old like computers or hard drives or I'm not much of a I'm not much of a computer person myself, but I definitely like rummaging through old vials since it's interesting Yeah, you never know what you're gonna be able to find in some of them also like Especially for some of the older tech archives sometimes with the way people bodge together code Sometimes you can find completely unrelated things that can revolutionize how future tech can be done up Kind of like she looks at you for a little bit. Are you you a programmer or a Computer scientist of some sort. I easiest way to put it is that I'm not formally tran- I'm a professional amateur It's so good. I just A lot of it's intuitive to me for whatever reason so I can I can go in and I can code up stuff But it can be hard to do stuff in the exact same way as someone else does like it I've been told that my style is too freeform and I need to comment my code a lot more But yeah, I'm a I'm a computer's man.
She chuckles at this I kind of understand that I Sort of leaning on intuition rather than something wrote something very mathematical and sort of precise. It seems more of a It's like a fluency. It's like a talent almost. Oh Okay, uh, sure now i'm not sure exactly why and i'm only granting this because if it's a Delegate situation they are part of from what I understand And they're part of a faction that we don't fully understand I Typically at this point bounty hunters will reveal to the other parties who their factions are because the way that nature of bounty hunters are I'm not sure if you're very familiar with it I know you are with the knights, but the knights may run things differently You reveal who you work for in faction wise and then from there negotiations start happening There's an exchange of money based on you know damages and suing and whatnot But they're not giving away who they're working for and even if they were we would understand that it would probably be a third party Anyway, they would be the third party to whatever person who wanted schoolwork originally and while we probably know who wants schoolwork We're not going to give that away just to anybody you understand for schoolwork safety. That's at least good enough, but uh That has something to be noted at least Yeah, it's uh, basically just Checked the buffers while they were while asking some questions and Saw what was going what was going through their mind, basically I didn't get into any deep processor stuff or anything. I don't think So Charles works takes you down a few hallways and a few flat stairs down and down until the you get to the basement of Workforce HQ Whenever you get down there, there seems to be an increased amount of guards in the area and not guards as in the species but guards as in the People who protect things they take you into this secures area Uh, Charles work seems to be you know accessing a lot of places You walk up to a few doors They seem to be read and they automatically turn green as soon as they get near and you walk down a few corridors And you notice that there are a lot of screens in the wall One of the screens that you pass by is a group of the cubal people They seem to be in a very plain room. All of them seem to be sitting around a few of them are sort of pacing in the room But as you're walking past you see a few other Places with screens on and you see different species inside clearly this seems to be some break of some sort some sort of uh, jail That the workforce has themselves they have probably, uh, jailed these people You actually see needlework on one of the screens in a cell with somebody who seems to be strapped down And uh as you walk past the screen sort of quickly turns off before you sort of see exactly what needlework is doing But you finally reach, uh, screen that shows you an odd site It is a room that is sort of looks as though as if it was on the fifth or sixth floor of any large building There is one wall that seems to look out on sort of the rest of the city blocks sort of the city vista that you would see uh, sort of buildings underneath And there is you know a few ferns in here There's a few plants and it looks like to be a meeting room There's a very large table in the middle with a bunch of chairs sort of all around its edges And sitting in one of the chairs with their hands crossed Is the reassembled form of the magic hate ball that you referred to as before Charlotte Quiswerk sort of gestures to the screen They've been sitting here for quite some time After they rec- they requested You they've just been sitting there and sort of not refusing to talk but refusing to discuss anything vital so to speak and the uh The nice stakes are in there to set them more at ease and Kind of make them not realize that they're deep in a basement break basically, right?
So if they do break out, they'll be surprised that they're extremely far underground instead of on like Let's see the eight floor or something like that That was our initial intent The room is already set up as it is But they seem to understand where they are They know that they're not where they seem to be You can try to put them at ease, but it doesn't seem like that's possible at this point More like if I I can disclose a little bit more now that we're sort of in a secure location But they're not the same person that we eat They're not the same person that we drug in Are you saying someone else like downloaded into the shell? Basically, after you said what you did in the hallway I've taken a few precautions I believe that we are sort of Have you ever heard of a Faraday cage? Yep Walks all transmissions and coming and outgoing This entire place underneath the basement in the HQ You've seen the locks that we had to pass on the way through It is one gigantic Faraday cage They I'm not sure if they'd seen the programming beforehand, but something in them changed What question uh Are you eating You said one giant Faraday cage are each of the rooms independently isolated also I'm trying to talk about this for a little bit Sort of uh They sort of like tilt their head to the side You know guard They sort of get quiet for a little bit That only means that they're probably talking or looking through notes or something According to the schematics, it looks like a few of the rooms are Most of the rooms on the side are Yes, uh the ones that both the other hate balls are in and this one are separate Faraday cages Okay, uh And I'm just gonna ask that not to insult your company or anything like that It's just that I had to do IT security for people for a time and We dealt with Faraday cages and Long story short one of the security Preaches that they opened up accidentally was because one idiot was very upset with the lack of good calm reception Inside the secure area so they drilled into the cage and put a repeater in to get stronger signal So they could watch sports And while in the break room, I'm not saying anything like that's happened, but you're you're sure that nobody's like Fucking it fricked around with a Faraday cage and there's a small hole that could be broadened, right? I'm 98% sure that that is a clean and intact Faraday cage Okay Oh, that that's good.
You guys have uh, that's actually encouraging to hear because I I know skin off my nose But it always kind of irks you after you've worked in that kind of job for a while that people people do dumb things sometimes Trust me. There's a lot of neon lights There's a lot of reworked buildings, but it looks more like fashioned rework than anything It's like someone has taken like some shanty stuff sort of polished it up and then sort of made it into like these intricate hipstery patterns You know, it's like it's like modern was made with someone went through a junkyard and actually tried to polish up all the junk so Nuvo cyberpunk kind of thing where The equivalent of people on earth going all the stuff from the sprawl and William Gibson books Let's do that but shiny.
