‘Nederland moet vrijwillige dienstplicht invoeren’

In Zweden staan jongeren te popelen om het leger in te gaan. Het land kent sinds 2017 een vrijwillige dienstplicht: alleen de gemotiveerde jongens en meisjes worden geselecteerd. Na een bezoek aan het Scandinavische land is defensieverslaggever Silvan Schoonhoven onder de indruk: „Vroeger deden dienstplichtigen er alles aan om afgekeurd te worden, maar in Zweden is het precies andersom. Daar barsten jongeren in huilen uit als ze niet door de selectie komen.” Mede door de Russische agressie wil CDA-Kamerlid en reservist Derk Boswijk de Zweedse dienstplicht ook invoeren in Nederland.
