Needing Rest Is Not a Sin

from VERSED · host John Lawhon

Are you in the midst of perpetual exhaustion? Where just to pick up your foot and place it in front of the other feels like you’ve run a marathon? That everyone else seems to manage their lives better? Look at them! They’re amazing parents and I bet they’re managing their home and their jobs answering every single email. Maybe there’s something off with me spiritually? Do you feel like there’s a problem with you? That there’s this person in you that can thrive, is glowing, is attractive but your circumstances and exhaustion are pinning you down? Do you actually hate how your taxing life is affecting your relationships? I can say this because I’m there too. Right now. Sometimes it can feel like needing to take care of ourselves is wrong. That needing rest is giving up. That taking a break is being selfish. And maybe even to the point where you think it is a sin. My encouragement comes from Jesus and today’s passage. Jesus got tired. Jesus needed rest. And no, we’re not stronger than him. If you would like to dive deeper into this, or other verses in the Bible, if you have a verse you would like to submit to have included in a future episode if have questions about the Bible that you would like answered in a bonus episode, or simply want to connect with me... text VERSED to 88474 or click here Also included in that link is a list of resources and references I use in this podcast and can help you grow deeper in your faith as well. Verse-By-Verse Ministry With Heather Darnall Heather Darnall This podcast is a way for people to dive deep into the Christian Bible with me as I read scripture verse-by-verse from various books/sections and break them down for a better understanding of the context, but moreover, to have a better relationship with Jesus. Additionally, I believe this podcast is a good starting point for anyone new to the Holy Bible, but is still good for anyone who is already well-versed. I'm simply a seeker for the truth of God in which is what I want to share with anyone whose heart is open to hear and receive it. But the main reason I started this podcast begins with a mini testimony: I grew up very worldly having no knowledge of Jesus, just His name and all the popular stories or miracles during His life - maybe one or two apostles nam RambamReflections: Daily Wisdom for Life Daniel Aharonoff Welcome to RambamReflections: Daily Wisdom for Life, your go-to podcast for navigating the complexities of the modern world through the lens of Rambam's teachings.
