Neige Cendre (2011)

from Guillaume Campion · host Guillaume Campion

Pour information : [email protected] Prix et mentions : 5ème prix JTTP 2011 (Communauté électroacoustique canadienne) --- With the exception of sounds recorded in the forest and piano samples, all the audio material of "Neige Cendre" comes from an orchestra of quartz crystal vessels. These instruments, commonly used for meditation or music therapy, produce a sound closely related to the sinoisidal soundwave. However, when listening more closely, one discovers a variety of most likely unwanted sounds, coming from the playing of the vessels itself - brushing, blowing sounds, without which the vessels' acousmatic interest would actually become pretty limited. Using this dichotomy as a basis, "Neige Cendre" presents itself as a narrative journey putting into motion the "imperfect" and "pure" sides of the same sound, one after the other, until their peotic fusion in the end. Many thanks to Philippe-Guy Robichaud for lending me the beautiful sounds of his crystal quartz vessels.
