But Jesus reveals the spiritual reality: they were actually wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.The passage concludes with one of the most famous images in the Bible (v. 20): "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock." This isn't just an invitation for the unbeliever; it is an invitation to a complacent church. Jesus is standing outside His own church, asking to be let back in.
