Over a follow-up period of nearly five years, the treatment proved both statistically effective and safe for primary prevention. These findings suggest that the medication provides a vital protective benefit for high-risk patients before a first major cardiac event occurs. This evidence expands the known clinical utility of the drug beyond just treating patients with a history of vascular disease.
