Nelson & Burnes Return to D-backs | Kansas City Royals News

Ryne Nelson is poised to return from injury with a rehab outing Tuesday in Reno, aiming for one inning and 25 pitches after a strong debut last weekend—manager Lovullo says he’s ready. The Diamondbacks plan to use him in shorter relief stints, shifting from his usual starting role to bolster bullpen depth. Meanwhile, Corbin Burnes makes his season debut against the Royals, expected to pitch 60-65 pitches into the 4th or 5th inning after recovering from Tommy John and shoulder issues. Burnes’ return adds firepower as Arizona faces Michael Wacha and the Royals in a crucial series that extends through Thursday.
