Neon Moon

After losing the love of her life, Andi Merrill returns to the small North Carolina town she once called home with one goal: sell the last piece of her past and leave it behind. But when she's stood up on a first date and finds herself alone beneath the glow of a hotel bar's neon moon, an unexpected encounter with its enigmatic owner changes the course of a lonely Friday night. As two strangers share expensive tequila, country music, and the stories of the heartbreaks that shaped them, Andi begins to wonder whether healing always means letting go—or whether sometimes it begins by daring to let someone new in. Tender, funny, and quietly romantic, Neon Moon is a story about grief, second chances, and discovering that even after unimaginable loss, the heart is still capable of finding its way back to hope. Inspired by Brooks & Dunn's timeless classic, this original story is part of Songbook—the podcast where country music is reimagined. Written and hosted by Sonja Heisinger, author of Anthology: Love Stories Inspired by Country Music, each episode transforms the emotional heart of an iconic country song into a richly imagined work of fiction, inviting listeners to experience the music they love in an entirely new way.
